G2 Esports asserted their dominance at the LEC Season Finals to lift their fourth European League of Legends trophy of 2024.
They defeated Fnatic 3-1 in the grand final at Munich’s Olympic Hall today.
It was a relatively similar affair to that of the recent LEC Summer final, where G2 defeated Fnatic 3-0 through superior map control and team play, regardless of Fnatic’s early leads.
One reddit user summed it up, saying this in the Fnatic vs G2 LEC 2024 Season Finals post: “When I saw Fnatic up by 3k at 15 minutes, I knew G2 had won the series.”
Fnatic did manage to keep G2 Caps quiet in game two, with Fnatic mid-laner Humanoid playing well throughout the series, but Oscarinin struggling somewhat to make an impact in the top-lane. G2 Hans Sama also had an impressive performance in the bot lane, earning himself finals MVP.
The news comes after G2 also won the LEC Season Finals against Fnatic in 2023, the LEC Winter 2024 final, the LEC Spring 2024 final and the aforementioned recent LEC Summer 2024 final, pulling off a grand slam.
G2 did have a scare earlier in the Season Finals, losing 3-2 to Mad Lions Koi in the first round, but they then made a lower bracket run, beating GiantX 3-0, BDS 3-2, Mad Lions Koi 3-1 and then Fnatic 3-1 in the final today.
Both G2 and Fnatic have now qualified for the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) 2024 main swiss stage, with fellow European side Mad Lions Koi also progressing to the play-ins.
Worlds kicks off on September 25th and will take place in Europe, with the play-ins and swiss stage at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, the quarter-finals and semi-finals at the Adidas Arena in Paris, and the Worlds 2024 grand final at the O2 Arena in London.

G2 react to LEC Season Finals 2024 win: ‘If we have this amazing crowd with us, how can we not win Worlds?’
Caps said: “Winning today, with a lot of comebacks and cheers from the crowd, thanks a lot for your support, I’m super happy to win out the last game and take it home.
When asked by LEC broadcast talent Laure if fans can trust G2, the LEC and EMEA to perform at Worlds, Caps said: “I mean, if we have this amazing crowd with us, how can we not win, right? Thank you guys!”
Hans Sama added:
“I’m surprised to have the finals MVP. There’s some stuff about the game I feel like I’m better than other players. I wouldn’t say I’m the best ADC [in the West], I have to prove myself more and get stronger. I really want to get there, to the level I’d be proud of.
“Thanks to my team, they’re there to set me up, and I’m very thankful.
“Proud of my team’s resilience throughout the entire year and make it all the way to win it all.”

Mikyx said: “I didn’t expect to go 3-0 after the first game. It was a rough one. It’s a relief, a very good feeling to win because I think everyone expected us to win.
“We were confident we could win everything in Europe and we did it, it gives us a lot of confidence going into the international stage.
Brokenblade added: “It was very exciting to play in the finals, there was pressure after Fnatic beat us [in game two], Fnatic showed up great and gave us a good fight. We’re excited to go to Worlds.”
Analyst Rodrigo said: “12/12, the job is done. European grand slam baby, vamos.”
Assistant coach Duffman commented: “Got the job fucking done. Big mission after MSI was to raise our floor rather than focusing on reaching a ceiling and that truly paid off this last month. Very proud of my teammates, so many game changing moments in our prep and in games.”
G2 also reacted with swagger on socials, poking fun at Fnatic for their lack of trophies:
Fnatic reaction to LEC Season Finals 2024 defeat: ‘Heartbreaking, but let’s bring our best to the world stage now’
Fnatic founder and CEO, Sam Mathews, commented: “Sorry Fnatic’s, yes another disappointment, finishing second again to G2. Absolutely heartbreaking and incredibly hard to find words that would make a difference, considering this is not new and been said before.
“G2 right now is just better at late game, and rooting out/fixing that is something which will take time and the off-season. For now though, the attention needs to be into prep for Worlds. There will be a lot of fans wanting to vent, so feel free to drop it below. I read all.”
The Fnatic Twitter account added: “A hardfought year of the LEC comes to an end in Munich. We’re so grateful to each and every one of you who came to watch in person today, and to all bringing the hype from home. All our eyes on Worlds now, let’s bring our best to the world stage.”
Fnatic jungler Razork simply tweeted a broken heart emoji:
After today’s final, the Worlds 2024 play-ins draw was made, with Europe’s Mad Lions Koi facing Vietnam’s Vikings Esports in the first match.
We’ll be back with plenty of Worlds 2024 coverage soon.
