The League of Legends 2024 Worlds viewership has broken some records, with certain matches and co-streamers generating impressive numbers.

The first half of the Swiss stage is outpacing last year’s viewership ‘and is on track to become the most popular tournament in League of Legends history and possibly all of esports’, according to Esports Charts.

There have been 49m hours watched, 2.8m peak viewers and 1.49m average viewers in 2024, compared to 35m hours watched, 1.8m peak viewers and 1.14m average viewers at this point in 2023.

Also, average viewership during the Swiss stage so far has increased by 60% compared to the play-ins stage.

Peak online viewership, however, has jumped 96% between the stages (last year, this figure was 50%), reports Esports Charts.

And it’s been South Korean giants (and current Worlds 2023 champions) T1 that have generated the most views in the Swiss stage, with 2.8m peak viewers in the match vs Top Esports, 2.5m vs VLG and 2.3m vs PNG.

Elsewhere, Worlds 2024 reached over 14.2m hours watched on its opening day, a 52.7% increase compared to last year.

It’s not just the main broadcasts pulling in the numbers either. Some of the Worlds 2024 co-streamers have been pulling in big numbers too.

British streamer Caedrel had 2.92m hours watched on his Twitch channel last weekend, according to Streams Charts, ahead of Riot’s official stream on Twitch (2.17m) and Ibai (1.82m).

Riot’s stream had an airtime of 44 hours and 50 minutes, while Caedrel’s airtime was 28 hours and 15 minutes.

Caedrel said: “Mega pace for Worlds. I appreciate you all coming out to the streams and hanging out.

“It’s always absolutely mind blowing how many people tune in, it’s completely impossible to register, ah I don’t know how I can thank you all enough.”

Esports Charts reported that Caedrel had more than 227,400 concurrent viewers during the G2/Weibo match, while German streamer Tolkin had a personal best, with more than 51,300 viewers during that same match.

Esports Charts also said: “The 2024 World Championship is generally outpacing last year’s event in terms of viewership, with particularly notable increases in certain language segments.

“For example, Portuguese-language streams have seen a significant rise in viewership. Thanks to paiN Gaming’s advancement to the Swiss Stage, the average viewers metric has jumped by 100,000 people, or 230%, compared to last year.”

However, peak and average viewership on the Korean streaming service have dropped by about 20-23%, and total watch time has almost dropped to a third of last year’s figures.
