UK Valorant esports star Jake ‘Boaster’ Howlett has featured in a new song titled ‘Comeback’, with San Francisco-based musician Derivakat.
The Fnatic player raps in the song, which is billed as the ‘Fnatic 2024 anthem’ and dropped yesterday on Derivakat’s YouTube channel.
Boaster said: Qualified for Valorant Champions and busted this song out. Please go easy on me.
“Also, if you listed to the bit before I start the rap, you can hear [one of Boaster’s teammates] Leo going beast mode.”
The news comes after Fnatic’s Valorant team defeated BLG 2-0 in their opening match of Valorant Champions 2024, the world championship for Valorant esports, which is taking place in Seoul
Derivakat added: “Comeback release day AND I got to watch Fnatic win their first Champs match in person? Could this day get any better, omg.”
Boaster’s mum Susan also said on Twitter it was a ‘great song’ and she was a ‘proud Mumma Boaster’.
It’s of course not the first time Boaster has shown his musical skills. Boaster was immortalised in a Valorant Champions 2022 music video ‘Fire Again’, and a video of Boaster singing in Mandarin watched by millions in 2021.
Back in July, Fnatic became the first team from the VCT EMEA league to qualify for Valorant Champions 2024.
Then, later in the month, Fnatic won Stage 2 of the Valorant VCT EMEA 2024, earning them back-to-back VCT wins after the organisation were crowned VCT EMEA Stage 1 champions back in May.
Lyrics for Boaster and Derivakat’s ‘Comeback’ song
Run it back, 2023, Fnatic were number one
Lifting trophies, undefeated, taking down everyone
Playing on the stage, man life was good
We weren’t afraid even though we should
Be aware that teams would overtake us
And stand in the place where we once stood
It’s inevitable
Dynasties will be overthrown
But where is the drive, the hunger to grow
When someone else takes the trophy home
So show up, I’m giving my time
Show up, I stay on the grind
Me and my boys, we’re paving the way
We running the strats and making the plays
Keep it calculated, take it to the top
Keep me underrated so I can show ’em up
Rivals I created, bring ’em to a stop
Keep it calculated, take ’em to the drop
Are you ready for it?
Will you seize the moment?
When it’s lights, camera, action
Are you running toward it?
When they count up the score
Do you strike out for more
This isn’t the end
We comeback, comeback again
Picture this, you’re on the stage in the finals
One bad round and the game can spiral
The crowds going wild, your clips go viral
Trophy ready for the king of the title
Have any doubts? Then hang up your mouse
Losers focus on winners and the winner’s focused on running this house
Leave it all there on the stage
Tell the stories, turn the page
Legacy that we create
Be the writers of our fate
Keep it calculated, take it to the top
Keep me underrated so I can show ’em up
Rivals I created, bring ’em to a stop
Keep it calculated, take ’em to the drop
Are you ready for it?
Will you seize the moment?
When it’s lights, camera, action
Are you running toward it?
When they count up the score
Do you strike out for more
This isn’t the end
We comeback, comeback again
Complacency is the downfall
You take the crown when you stand tall
(Are you ready for it, are you ready for it)
We set the stage for a comeback
We put our team on the world map
(Will you seize the moment, will you seize the moment)
Keep it calculated, take it to the top
Keep me underrated so I can show ’em up
(Are you ready for it, are you ready for it)
Rivals I created, bring ’em to a stop
Keep it calculated, take ’em to the drop
(Will you seize the moment, will you seize the moment)
Are you ready for it?
Will you seize the moment?
When it’s lights, camera, action
Are you running toward it?
When they count up the score
Do you strike out for more
This isn’t the end
We comeback, comeback again
