UK esports organisation Into the Breach took first place at the Assembly Summer 2022 CSGO LAN in Finland on the weekend.
They beat all-Finnish side Jano Esports 2-1 in the grand final on Jano’s home turf to win the event.
Into the Breach put in a dominant performance across the tournament, which took place at the Messukeskus venue in Helsinki.
They received €7,000 for finishing first, with Jano taking home €3,000, and third-fourth place teams Havu and Kova each receiving €1,500.
Into the Breach topped Group A, ahead of Kova, Ence Academy (who have UK coach Whitey) and Visu Gaming, before beating Havu Gaming 2-0 in the semi-final and Jano in the final.
In Group B, Jano topped the table with two wins, ahead of Havu, Conquer Gaming and Void.
The news comes a few weeks after Into the Breach tweaked their CSGO player line-up, bringing in two Swedish players to their active line-up in William ‘Draken’ Sundin and Alfred ‘RuStY’ Karlsson, to join UK players Adam9130, Dobbo and Cypher.
Experienced UK CSGO players Smooya and Thomas recently left Into the Breach to look for opportunities elsewhere.
This was also the first international LAN for Into the Breach UK players Cypher and Dobbo, who we interviewed after his LAN win at Insomnia68.
Into the Breach team manager Marvin ‘Punico’ Matthes told Esports News UK: “We are really happy about the result in Helsinki, it was the first international LAN for two players which both showed up in a good way. The guys never gave up, no matter how far they were behind and showed a great mentality and the will to win, from playing against the crowd to playing with the crowd in the last two maps.
“Now as Dobbo is on vacation we have a bit of rest and start at the first RMR qualifier with a stand-in (as Dobbo is still on Vacation). As far as him being back, we will have two months of tournaments ahead of us.”
The win will bring Into the Breach more confidence, as they prepare to play at the UK’s next Insomnia LAN, i69, before a bootcamp in Germany in September.
Into the Breach also recently picked up wins in other circuits like ESEA Cash Cup Europe, the Beyond Invitational and more.
