FURIA wins landmark IEM LAN trophy in dominant Chengdu Final

After rapidly rising through the VRS in 2025, FURIA have finally claimed an IEM LAN trophy in the IEM Chengdu Finals. They also became the first majority Brazilian team to win an IEM title in eight years.

Meanwhile, Team Vitality were unable to return to their early 2025 winning form.

FURIA stomp Team Vitality in 3-0 Chengdu Grand Final

Despite Team Vitality’s best efforts, the former unbeatable team were denied any map wins in the IEM Chengdu Grand Final.

FURA started strong on Map 1, Ancient, exhibiting good map control but narrowly avoiding overtime to take the map 13-11.

As Map 2, Inferno, began, Team Vitality looked as though they would be able to pull back a map of their own. However, despite the map’s CT-weighted nature, FURIA were able to pull back on T side to push past Team Vitality and claim their second win.

With Inferno ending 13-10 to FURIA, the Brazilian challengers had the IEM Chengdu trophy in their sights.

However, FURIA’s Map 3 pick, Overpass, did not begin in their favour. With their backs against the wall, Team Vitality kicked into high gear, ending their first half CT-side with eight round wins to FURIA’s four.

Despite this early lead, FURIA’s determination superseded Vitality’s effort to remain ahead. The Brazilian team was able to level Team Vitality at 9-9, before surging ahead at the very last moment to close out the map 13-11.

Their Grand Final win wraps up a highly successful Chengdu tournament for FURIA.

They cemented their place as an IEM Chengdu Playoffs team through their Upper Bracket Final run in Group B.

It was in the Upper Bracket Group B Final that they suffered their only loss – a 1-2 defeat to MOUZ, who also claimed a Group Stage victory against Team Vitality.

As of November 3rd, FURIA also claimed the number one position in the VRS (Valve Regional Standings Global Ranking). They will hope to defend their position in the upcoming Budapest Major.

Team Falcons claim third place in win over MOUZ

Despite Team Falcons and MOUZ both directly qualifying for the Semifinals after finishing at the top of their respective groups, both were defeated in their first playoff games.

This forced the two Group Stage winners into the best-of-three Third Place Match.

Falcons claimed a dominating 13-5 victory on Ancient in Map 1. However, MOUZ were able to push back to scrape an 11-13 win on Inferno in Map 2.

Nevertheless, MOUZ’s effort was not enough. Their reputation for choking crucial stage games was further cemented, as they were unable to maintain momentum from Inferno on Mirage.

Map 3, Mirage, saw Team Falcons take their final decisive map win of IEM Chengdu, wrapping up the series with a 13-6 victory.

Team Falcons, MOUZ, Team Vitality, and FURIA have all directly qualified to Stage 3 of the upcoming Major. Meanwhile, the Starladder Budapest Major 2025 Opening Matches have already been confirmed for Stage 1 competitors.

While all four of these teams will aim to elbow their way to a CS2 Major trophy, the tournament is perhaps most influential for the IEM Chengdu winners, FURIA.

If they play their cards right, FURIA have the chance to end 2025 at the top of the VRS.
