UK esports organisation Into the Breach (ITB) have kept us waiting, but they have now announced their finalised CS2 roster for 2024.
They announced the signing of Jordanian player Mohammad ‘BOROS’ Malhas from Team Falcons yesterday, the fifth player in their line-up.
BOROS said: “So excited to be back on the server with Into the Breach. Happy to get the chance again, I am sure we will do it.
“See you in the next major – no more mouse problems :)”
His comment on mouse problems refers to him changing his mouse and settings at the Major RMR, which led to Falcons coach Zonic reprimanding BOROS afterwards, and the player being benched “for performance reasons”.
BOROS joins other ITB Counter-Strike players for 2024 including Brit smooya (whose return to the org was announced on June 8th), Kosovan players sinnopsyy and juanflatroo (June 10th and 14th respectively), plus Belgian player Keoz (who joined on June 15th from GamerLegion).
Portuguese coach Juve also rejoined, alongside German assistant coach kRYSTAL joining on June 17th.
The new roster comes just over one year after Into the Breach’s incredible run at the 2023 Blast Paris Major, the last ever CSGO Major before the esports scene transitioned to CS2. That was with their previous roster of rallen (Poland), volt (UK), Thomas (UK), CYPHER (UK) and CRUC1AL (Netherlands).
The news also comes one month after Into the Breach announced they had secured a million-dollar yearly investment from Shuffle.com.
‘This roster is going to cook’ – reaction to ITB’s new CS2 roster for 2024
Into the Breach CEO and founder Sam Cook said of the new roster: “A lot of firepower, a lot of personality, a lot of depth and an extremely high skill ceiling for this roster. We’ll see how this works – but whatever happens we’ll for sure entertain fans along the way.
“Boros is eager to get back into the server and renew his Monte era. We’re eager to help him get there. The boys are ready to work hard.”
Sam also said the goals of the roster are fan engagement and entertainment, results and major qualification, plus community building and hitting key performance indicators for partners.
He also ruled out signing an ITB Valorant roster. Though ITB have part ownership of Valorant community collective The Goose House, as of October 2023.
Caster Dweg added: “This roster is going to cook. These guys should be top 30/40 within three months.”
Caster Ne0kai commented: “Unironically this team is actually very scary firepower-wise. So much talent with a very solid Awper, two super aggro riflers, I just hope they can glue together properly. But win or lose, I think this team is going to be hilarious to watch. Entertainment guaranteed.”
The general community response to the roster was positive.
