ESL and BBC Studios present CSGO esports documentary ‘Game and Glory’

Game and Glory esports documentary

Game and Glory, the esports documentary from ESL, an ESL Faceit Group brand, and BBC Studios, the content company of broadcaster, will go live this month.

It will premiere on January 24th 2023 at 4pm GMT on the ESL CSGO Twitch and YouTube channels. On Twitch, viewers can also watch the premiere together with esports personality Gaules and more.

Game and Glory aims to cover the personal side of pro players Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev, Kaike ‘Kscerato’ Cerato and Casper ‘cadiaN’ Møller, and what’s going through their heads while competing at the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) Major Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last year.

You can watch the documentary in full here:

The IEM Rio Major had a solid broadcast talent line-up, and ESL also released IEM Rio Major song, ‘Made of Loucura’, featuring UK caster JustHarry.

British CSGO caster Alex ‘Machine’ Richardson is also on board to guide viewers through the Game and Glory esports documentary and gives an inside look.

Machine said:

“The Rio major was special for many different reasons for many different people. Two years in the making. A crowd like no other. A first tour to remember. On a crucial continent of the Counter-Strike landscape. A special first time for us all, but certainly not the last!”

“Participating in the documentary was really cool to show a little bit of my family, where I come from, what I did as a kid, what the atmosphere is like in my family when I’m competing, and how things are in general,” added Kscerato.

“It was rewarding to have my family in a documentary that will surely be eternalized. I felt accomplished and, certainly, they did too because after playing for 13 years we didn’t imagine we would reach this point.”

Game and Glory esports documentary also focuses on fans at Rio Major

For the esports documentary Game and Glory, BBC Studios captured the atmosphere of the IEM Rio Major as well as the support and passion of the on-site fans.

From October 31st 2022 until November 13th 2022, EFG hosted its largest CSGO Major ever with a total prize pool of $1,250,000.

The event became the most-watched ESL competition and the third most-watched CSGO competition of all time.

During the first two phases of the tournament, 3,500 fans per day came to watch the tournament on-site and during the final four days, 14,000 fans experienced the live atmosphere.

The new esports documentary follows Fight for First, a documentary the BBC produced on Excel Esports two years ago.

Watch the premiere of the esports documentary Game and Glory on January 24th 2023, at 4pm GMT on the ESL CSGO Twitch and ESL CSGO YouTube channels, plus watch parties on Twitch.
