The first VCT 22 Game Changers Championship for women Valorant teams is underway in Berlin, and G2 Gozen have fortified their home city with outdoor marketing messages to their opponents.
G2 Gozen, the women’s Valorant team of G2 Esports, have been welcoming fans and opponents to the ‘House of Gozen’, their home turf.
G2 Gozen have warned their competition to ‘Come Prepared, Leave Destroyed’ with a takeover of Berlin. The House of Gozen emblem and G2 logo have been ‘strategically’ sprayed close to the opposition player hotels and the main tourist hotspots, including Alexanderplatz, Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz.
The designs are dotted across Riot’s LEC Studio route, the location for the tournament, in a bid to remind the competition who is in control of the city.
Meanwhile, images of the activation have been projected on buildings across the city, aiming to strike fear into all those entering the ‘House of Gozen’.
G2 Gozen are considered one of the favourites to lift the trophy this month, in the first-ever all-female international Valorant tournament, following a dominant Game Changers season where G2 Gozen won three VCT EMEA Game Changers tournaments in a row.
However, UK organisation Guild Esports’ Guild X team beat G2 Gozen to win VCT Game Changers EMEA Series 3 last month.
G2 Gozen are off to a solid start in the tournament, having beaten X10 Sapphire 2-0 and Cloud9 White 2-1 to progress to the upper bracket finals. At the time of writing, Guild X are currently playing against SR GC.
The Game Changers Championship will also see the launch of G2’s new partnership with Oakley, which has joined as G2’s new eyewear partner.
Alban Dechelotte, COO of G2 Esports, commented: “One year ago, we invited a group of gifted and talented players to become G2’s first-ever female only roster. Since then, G2 Gozen’s achievements on and off the server have been nothing short of phenomenal and the VCT 22 Game Changers Championship, on home soil, is our opportunity to show the world exactly what the team is about.”
In September, G2 also signed a women’s League of Legends team, G2 Hel. They will be taking part in the Rising Stars women’s League of Legends tournament later this month.
While at the time of writing the Game Changers Championship has some 27,000 viewers on Twitch, it’s been undermined by sexist and transphobic comments posted in the Twitch chat.
