Gen.G win North American RLCS Fall Invitational and clinch first seed for Rotterdam Major

Gen.G win NA Fall Invitational

Gen.G’s UK Rocket League pairing ApparentlyJack and Noly got their first RLCS major victory after their switch to North America (NA) yesterday, beating FaZe Clan in a 4-0 sweep in the finals.

The victory comes after two second-place finishes at the previous two NA regionals (the Fall Cup and the Fall Open), where Gen.G were bested by Version1 and ironically FaZe Clan respectively.

Gen.G’s Rocket League team also features US player Chronic.

This win ensured that Gen.G would be going into the Rotterdam Major as number one seeds from North America, topping the leaderboard in the region with a staggering 40 points accumulated.

The Rotterdam Major takes place at the Rotterdam Ahoy from December 8th to 11th 2022.

“We have the best environment in the whole of Rocket League, nobody comes close.”

Gen.G began the Fall Invitational with a 3-1 record in the swiss stage, beating Sol, 26 Rising and Furia, receiving their only loss of the tournament to G2, 3-1.

But in playoffs, Gen.G were unstoppable. They only dropped a singular game all bracket to Version1 in the quarter finals, before sweeping G2 in the semis and sweeping FaZe in the grand final, to finally get their hands on a regional title.

As you’d expect, the players were ecstatic after their victory, with ApparentlyJack’s head falling into his hands in celebratory relief at his team’s dominance.

Gen.G’s Noly said in a post-tournament interview: “I don’t know what to say, I’m just so happy right now. It was a big gamble [moving to North America], and it’s paid off.

“We do have the best environment in the whole of Rocket League, nobody comes close. As soon as we lose a game, we talk about it.

“All my family are supportive, they watch every single one of my games – my cousins, my grandparents, my parents.”

Despite his team’s success, Noly did speak about how difficult it’s been to transition away from his home life in the UK, saying: “Moving away from family and friends, the only people I talk to every day is my team – it’s hard.”

Luckily for Noly, he’ll be able to see his family soon, with the Rotterdam event falling just before the festive period: “We’re going to Rotterdam and then I’ll be back home for Christmas, same with Jack.”

Speaking of Rotterdam, when asked about who their toughest opposition at the Major would be, Noly said former team Karmine Corp, without hesitation. Noly previously moved to Karmine Corp back in April.

To round up, the UK starlet thanked everyone who has supported him along his journey, saying: “I wouldn’t be where I am without the support I get from everyone, its surreal.”

Gen.G will be looking to continue their fantastic start to the season on the global LAN stage in Rotterdam next month, with nine of the 15 teams already qualified for the event, including Karmine Corp from EU, FaZe, Version1, Spacestation and G2 from NA (G2’s team are based there), The Club and Team Secret from South America, and Falcons from MENA.

“I want to play Karmine Corp so bad; I have a track record of beating teams who kick me. That’s not a diss to them – I love all of them on that team, I’m still friends with them – but I want to beat them more than anyone.”

The two teams from Oceania and four more European representatives will be decided this coming week, with the Fall Invitationals for those regions taking place this coming weekend (beginning November 11th).
