The Trackmania Grand League World Cup 2022 is about to get underway – and the UK has a star player plus two organisations represented.

MNM Gaming UK player Thomas ‘Pac’ Cole will be participating, as will Polish player Hubert ‘mime’ Dziedzic for fellow UK esports organisation Into the Breach.

Ubisoft announced today that the Trackmania Grand League (TMGL) 2022 World Cup will take place from July 1st to 3rd 2022 at the Stade de France near Paris, with the group stage underway behind closed doors from July 1st and 2nd, and a live audience for the playoffs and grand finale taking place on July 3rd. The prize pool is €20,000.

Looking at the players with UK links, Pac is a successful veteran Trackmania player from the UK. Pac re-signed to MNM Gaming after his TMGL Fall 2021 victory last year. He was also named Trackmania Player of the Year as MNM picked up the Team of the Year award.

Into the Breach are a newer UK esports organisation that also compete in the likes of CSGO, Dota 2 and Valorant.

Into the Breach moved into Trackmania back in May 2022 with the signing of mime, who said at the time: “I will be trying my best to represent the team as good as I can in upcoming competitions, hopefully we will achieve some great things together. The motivation is here, bigger than ever and I’m looking forward to the future.”

The news comes after the Trackmania Cup took place at the Accor Arena earlier this month (June 4th 2022) to a live audience of around 15,000.

What is the Trackmania Grand League World Cup?

Concluding the 2021-2022 season of the Trackmania Grand League (TMGL), Ubisoft says the World Cup is ‘a moment of celebration where players and fans come together and enjoy peak Trackmania action as the top 16 players around the world will race for the title and cash prize’.

Eight players qualified for the event through the TMGL circuit, while the 8 remaining spots were decided through the open qualifier early June, accessible to anyone looking to try their chance at one of the most prestigious competitions in the TMGL.

The Trackmania Grand League World Cup’s main partner is Toyota Gazoo Racing, the motorsport subsidiary of the well-known car manufacturer. As part of this collaboration, Trackmania players can already race with three cars, available in the Grand League club, branded to the colours of the World Cup and Toyota Gazoo Racing, and enjoy branded content after the event.

“The combination of our passion for competition and the art of pushing beyond limits, whether behind the wheel or with a gamepad controller in hand, will allow us once again to bring together these two worlds of sport and esports throughout the 2022 World Cup” said Omar Benabdallah, esports manager at Ubisoft Nadeo.

“Through esports, just as through real races, we want to convey the passion of motorsport and make it accessible to as many people as possible, whether it be physical or virtual,” added Luca Neyroz, marketing director of Toyota France.
