British League of Legends personalities Aaron ‘Medic’ Chamberlain and Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont will feature in the LFL English speaking broadcasts.
The pair, who are known for casting in the higher-tier LEC as well as streaming, will lend their voices to the English language broadcast of the French Ligue Française de League of Legends (LFL) as guest casters.
It was recently announced that the LFL would feature an English broadcast for the first time, with Canadian esports organiser Northern Arena teaming up with Webedia, Riot Games and the LFL to broadcast it.
The LFL English language streams will be broadcast from the Northern Arena Twitch channel.
Caedrel and Medic join other English speaking casters on the LFL broadcasts including SierraDawn, RavishingRavish, Visionzz, Beatdown, Influenya and Lisa Doan.
The LFL is one of several European Regional Leagues (ERLs) in League of Legends, which sit below the LEC.
The best teams from the ERLs qualify for the Amazon European Masters at the end of each season. None of these teams allow progression to the LEC, which is a closed franchised league.
However, it is possible for teams to buy into the LEC should another existing LEC side depart the league. For example, Team BDS acquired Schalke 04’s LEC slot for €26.5m last year.
The news comes as the NLC, the League of Legends European Regional League (ERL) for the UK, Ireland and Nordics, announced its talent line-up for 2022. And tonight, another showmatch between top French side Karmine Corp and Spanish side Koi will take place.
Two months ago, Riot Games announced major changes to ERLs to help “level up” the region and standardise its diverse ecosystem.
Both the LFL and NLC are Accredited ERLs, meaning they will have offline events, and their players will be added to Riot’s Global Contract Database (GCD).
Other Accredited ERLs include the Superliga (Spain), Prime League (DACH) and Ultraliga (Poland/Baltics). Non-Accredited ERLs include the PG Nationals (Italy), Esports Balkan League, Greek Legends League, Elite Series (Benelux), Hitpoint Masters (Czech Republic/Slovakia) and the Liga Portuguesa (Portugal).
The LoL Accredited ERLs in 2022 are said to each have €200,000 in prizing and financial subsidies.
