Irish esports tournament organiser Legion Esports has announced a new partnership with the Irish postal service, An Post.
Legion says the partnership is significant for the gaming and esports scene in Ireland as ‘An Post becomes the biggest non-endemic brand to join forces with fastest growing esports brand in the country’.
State-owned service An Post will be promoting its new digital money management app for young adults.
Legion Esports was launched in January this year by the organisers of Ireland gaming festivals, GamerFest, with online tournaments running across the likes of FIFA 21, Rainbow 6 Siege and Fortnite. The most recent FIFA 21 tournament saw football clubsrepresented including Liverpool FC, Aston Villa FC and PSV Eindhoven.
To date, Legion Esports tournaments have had over 3,000 participating players and more than 100,000 live stream views.
In addition to the Legion Esports Series, the company has also created the Legion Creator Programme which supports aspiring Irish content creators and gamers as they seek to build their profiles and careers. The Legion Creator Programme has accepted 25 applicants to date and is supported by GamerStore.ie, An Post Money Mate and Trust Gaming.
Stuart Dempsey, co-founder and CEO at Legion Esports, said: “We are incredibly proud to welcome An Post Money Mate as Title Partner of the Legion Esports Series and Official Partner of our Legion Creator Programme. This partnership is a great vote of confidence in the success of Legion Esports and the growth of gaming in Ireland.”
Conor Barron, digital marketing and CRM manager at An Post, added: “We are hugely excited to be involved with The Legion as the first Irish brand to enter a partnership of this size and scale with them.
“We share a keen sense of community with gamers and the gaming industry and we look forward to using this innovative and exciting medium to communicate with them both.”
