Is UK caster Sona – now known as The Medic – off to Riot Games?

There’s a Riot – quick, someone call a Medic!
Ahem. UK League of Legends caster and former medical professional Aaron “Sona” Chamberlain has changed his game name to Medic.
He made the announcement today after teasing us all on Twitter.

But there’s more to this story.
Earlier this month Esports News UK heard that Aaron may be off to Riot Games. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet and we couldn’t clarify the information with anyone at the time, so we didn’t run the story.
But if he was going to change his name, for whatever reason, it’d obviously before Riot makes an official public announcement.
And UK scene traitor Rioter Ben “Draggles” Forbes has been making some lighthearted comments about it on Twitter.

Medic’s caster/desk host partner Ceirnan “Excoundrel” Lowe also made some hints (but then he would, because he loves dramatizing and click baiting):

It’s not clear whether Medic will be signed up to do some Challenger Series stuff or LCS or a tournament in particular, but our money is on him joining Riot.
In a Twitlonger post, Medic explained the reasoning behind his name change: “Over time names fade and eventually you realise that casting a game where you have named yourself after one of the main champions is perhaps not the smartest idea in the world.
“On that note, I sadly must say that I am retiring the caster name, ‘Sona’. From now on I’m going to be calling myself, Aaron ‘Medic’ Chamberlain. A fitting name for both my style as a player and as a person.”

Medic tried to change his name once before, to ‘The Doc’, but it wasn’t an easy pill for the community to swallow, and he quickly changed his name back to Sona.
Whatever happens now, it will be strange to see the super UK caster duo Medic and Excoundrel apart.
The pair won our Casters Bromance of the Year Award in the 2016 Esports News UK Awards. On that note, it’s only right if we leave you with this video of the pair in action:
