Verizon VCT Game Changers NA Stage 1 Swiss Format and Schedule Revealed

Riot has confirmed the format and full schedule for the Verizon VCT Game Changers NA Stage 1 Swiss Event, with play beginning on April 15 and 16 teams battling for 8 places in the Stage 1 Main Event later this spring. The Swiss phase runs through May 20, with teams qualifying after four wins or dropping out after four losses.

That matters immediately. Stage 1 is the first major sorting point of the North American Game Changers season, with Main Event qualification, prize money and wider circuit momentum all on the line as teams begin their push toward the 2026 campaign’s bigger milestones.

Verizon VCT Game Changers NA Stage 1 format explained

The Swiss Event is straightforward on paper but brutal in practice. Sixteen teams enter the field, and each roster keeps playing until it either reaches four match wins to qualify for the Main Event or four losses to be eliminated, with Riot outlining the structure in its official event overview on Valorant Esports.

Two teams came in via prior results rather than the open path: Shopify Rebellion Gold qualified through last year’s Game Changers Championship route, while Wadadaa earned their place through the Game Changers Americas LCQ. The other 14 squads fought through two Open Qualifiers to reach this stage, giving the field a good mix of established names and teams trying to turn qualifier runs into a proper season.

It is the same general Swiss idea competitive VALORANT fans will recognise from other Riot events – and, as with the wider VCT EMEA Stage 1 format reveal, the key point is that there is very little room for a slow start. You do get more than one life, but depth matters quickly when every result either moves you toward qualification or toward the trapdoor.

Beyond Swiss, the 8 teams that advance will move into a Main Event running from May 29 to June 6. That phase carries the bigger rewards, including a reported $65,000 prize pool for Stage 1 and circuit points tied to the road toward the Game Changers Championship.

Verizon VCT Game Changers NA Stage 1 schedule: dates and venue

The Swiss stage starts on Wednesday April 15, 2026, with Round 1 matches played at 2pm PT and 5pm PT. Round 2 follows on April 23, while Rounds 3 through 7 begin from April 29 and continue through May 20, with all matches played online and broadcasts split across official and observer feeds.

Riot has confirmed the Match of the Week broadcasts will air on Twitch and YouTube, while Raidiant will handle additional observer-only streams on its own channels. That expanded coverage has become a real part of the circuit’s appeal – one of the reasons Game Changers has felt increasingly visible across regions, including in stories like G2 Gozen’s unbeaten EMEA run.

Round 1 opens with Wadadaa vs HyperSpeed Golden as an early Match of the Week, while SEN Otters vs Teevee headlines the later block. Not a bad way to kick off the stage.

Which teams are competing and what’s at stake

The full field includes Shopify Rebellion Gold, Wadadaa, SEN Otters, SwimTrek Blue, FlyQuest RED, SaD GC, Puppy Thieves, Ghost Gaming, MVSK Treasure, EMPIRE GC, Auraboros, Monarch-X GC, Teevee, HyperSpeed Golden and Frost White, alongside another qualifier-listed squad in Riot’s schedule. Some arrive with pedigree, others with a chance to make their name in a format designed to reward consistency over one-off spikes.

The headline prize is one of the 8 Main Event slots, but the wider stakes are bigger than a single bracket. Main Event placement feeds into prize money and Game Changers Championship points, which remain the currency that shapes the international race later in the year – the same broader ecosystem that keeps roster moves such as G2 Petra’s return to active Game Changers play so relevant across regions.

For NA teams, Stage 1 is where the year’s pecking order starts to harden. By May 20, the Swiss grind will have cut the field in half, and the eight survivors will know they are still in the hunt for the first major title run of the 2026 Game Changers season.
