G2 Esports have claimed the Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series Championship at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, topping an epic 11-match grand final that saw five teams reach match point before G2 closed it out with a 26-kill performance in the final game.

The G2 roster of Anthony “Anziety” Moran, Ashton “Bigman” Ezard and Aarondeep “Cythe” Dhami has played together for years, resisting the constant roster shuffles that define the Warzone scene. The storyline that played out was one of redemption. At EWC 2025, G2 finished 17th, failing to even reach the grand final and drawing heavy criticism. Signed to G2 in February 2026, the trio spent the year putting up solid if inconsistent results before arriving in Paris as a contender rather than a favourite.

They made their case in the group stage, posting 235.2 points to finish second in Group B and lock in a grand final spot. When the final began, G2 hit the ground running with top three finishes in each of the first four maps. A rocky mid-final stretch saw them challenged, but they reached match point by Game 10 before closing the tournament with authority. Across all 11 maps they placed outside the top five just twice and led the field with 150 total kills.

Anthony “Anziety” Moran was named Sony MVP, taking home an additional $25,000 alongside the award. G2 claim the top prize of $250,000 and 1,000 Club Championship points.

UK players take a significant share of the prize pool

While G2 and its Canadian and US team won the event, the UK put in quite the showing. South Korea’s T1 finished second, and their roster carries a UK trio. Meanwhile, Chinese org, JDG finished third with one UK player contributing to their podium finish. Further down the field, NIP placed ninth with a UK representative, while Gen.G finished 12th with a British player in their line-up. Ag.al placed 14th, also with a UK player involved. There are many more dotted around the place too.

With prize money distributed across the full final field, British Warzone players took a meaningful chunk of the overall pot from the EWC 2026 championship weekend. Once again, the UK remains a strong force in the Warzone scene.

This week, there’s also the Black Ops 7 tournament coming up in Paris. Maybe we will get a strong national showing there once again?

British Army recently won the CoD bowl. Again, the Anglosphere remains competitive in CoD.
