MCM Comic Con and EGX combine for October 2024

MCM Comic Con and EGX 2024

ReedPop has today announced that MCM Comic Con and EGX will co-locate at ExCeL London this year to form ‘the UK’s biggest pop culture weekend’.

Taking place from Friday October 25th to Sunday October 27th, it will be the first time the two events bring together the conventions all under one roof.

This year, EGX and MCM will run for three days and, for the first time, fans will gain access to both events with a single ticket. These ticket sales will begin on May 27th 2024.

Geek and pop culture event MCM Comic Con hosts an array of guests, authors, artists, exhibitors, cosplayers and fans from different fandoms. These range from Dungeons & Dragons to Ted Lasso and everything in between.

Meanwhile, EGX is a celebration of video games, bringing together players and publishers, putting upcoming and classic games in the hands of eager gamers, as well as running esports tournaments.

For example, EGX 2023 hosted £5,000 esports tournaments, plus creator meet and greets and more. Unfortunately for organisers, competitors and spectators, Just Stop Oil protestors also interrupted the Tekken esports event on stage at EGX 2023.

“We’re delighted that we can finally bring these staple pop culture and gaming events together. This has been a long time in the making, and the team are looking forward to bringing an elevated experience to fans this year.”

MCM Comic Con and EGX will feature all the usual elements visitors expect from the conventions, like Cosplay Central and Artist Alley at MCM, to playable games and gaming career advice at EGX.

ReedPop has also announced that TikTok will return as the headline sponsor of EGX in 2024, bringing an array of opportunities for fans to meet even more of their favourite TikTok creators.

“What it means to be a gamer on TikTok has evolved in recent years, and gaming culture on our platform no longer exists in a neatly-defined silo,” said Langer Lee, Global Head of Gaming at TikTok.

“On TikTok, gaming creators inspire each other through joyful and authentic content that’s helpful and transcends gameplay boundaries. Many are discovering games through the intersectionality of their interests, this is why we are so excited that EGX and Comic Con are teaming up under one roof.

“There really is a community for everyone on TikTok, and as lead partner for EGX again this year, we can’t wait to see and welcome the diversity of fandoms attending the event.”

“Following years of success across both MCM Comic Con and EGX, we’re delighted that we can finally bring these staple pop culture and gaming events together,” added Teresa Heitor Goncalves, Event Director at ReedPop.

“This has been a long time in the making, and the team are looking forward to bringing an elevated experience to fans this year.”
