UK-based YouTuber Elz the Witch will host a ‘Gaming for Good’ event for charity initiative End Youth Homelesness in London this month.
The Gaming for Good event, featuring a Mario Kart tournament from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, will take place at London’s Platform gaming bar on Monday February 20th 2023.
The event promises friendly competition, beers and pizza, plus the tournament.
End Youth Homelessness’ charity Gaming for Good initiative is an annual gaming fundraiser to support ending youth homelessness and is back again in February with support from the public and gamers across the UK.
For two weeks from February 11th to 25th, End Youth Homelessness is rallying creators from the gaming world to support the event by hosting online streams or in-person events and raise money for young people facing homelessness.
Gaming for Good, sponsored by Codemasters and Fourth Floor, has garnered the support of UK creators including Elz the Witch, Two Angry Gamers and Pyrion Flax.
End Youth Homelessness was founded in 2014 by member charity Centrepoint after its patron, HRH, the Duke of Cambridge, tasked the charity to end youth homelessness. It raises funds to support young people into safe and stable homes, and provide dedicated employability support and specialist mental health services.
According to research, young people are most affected by the cost of living crisis as they face the highest spending on essentials and a lack of general support. There are currently 121,000 young people facing homelessness, according to recent Big Issue statistics, and Platform and End Youth Homelessness are fighting back to help end homelessness.
Faye Edmondson, Head of Fundraising and Communications at End Youth Homelessness, said: “Gaming for Good is a unique event, mobilising gamers and streamers across the UK in an effort to raise vital funds to End Youth Homelessness. We are excited to host our first-ever in-person event as part of Gaming for Good and delighted to be hosting it at Platform’s next-level gaming bar.
“We’re consistently blown away by the kindness and generosity of the gaming community and would love to see new faces and old ones at our Mario Kart Tournament this February. A special thank you to Platform for supporting our mission to End Youth Homelessness.”
Elz the Witch added: “I’m so excited to join End Youth Homelessness’ initiative Gaming for Good. It’s a pleasure to help raise vital funds which can truly transform the lives of young people and help give back to my community.”
Shaun White, Director of Integrated Communications at Codemasters, commented: “We are proud to support End Youth Homelessness and their Gaming for Good fundraiser. Together with Fourth Floor, we will create opportunities to build awareness and raise much-needed funds so those in crisis can get the help they need.”
General admission for the event is £20, and tournament entry requires a minimum £30 donation.
End Youth Homelessness has hosted other ‘Gaming for Good’ events in the past, including this one from 2021 backed by several UK influencers including PyrionFlax, Lionheartx10 and Rose and Rosie.
You can get tickets for the upcoming Mario Kart tournament event at Eventbrite and get involved further on the Gaming for Good website
