UK-based mobile game developers Invincibles Studio has re-signed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as global ambassador for its new mobile game, Soccer Manager 2023.

The renewed partnership was promoted with an annual photoshoot and filming session with the former Premier League footballer, who also featured in promotional videos alongside prominent UK social media figures and YouTubers such as Theo Baker and ChrisMD.

Mikel Arteta also featured in a YouTube video with Beta Squad’s Sharky, where Arteta is showing the influencers how to shoot at goal, as well as a few promotional TikTok videos alongside UK football influencers Ben Nuttall and Liv Cooke, plus a video with F2 Freestylers.

These YouTubers have a combined following of millions.

Strategic partnerships manager for Invincibles Studio, Kevin Kirwan, said: “It has been a pleasure, as always, to deal with Mikel and the team around him. We are excited to work with him more closely in the coming months.”

There was a variety of promotional material including a photoshoot with Mikel Arteta and the videos with influencers.

The news comes after Mikel Arteta had previously signed with Invincibles for the 2022 edition of the game.

One of Invincibles’ earlier partners also featured in the promotional content: the F2 Freestylers. They also have their own mobile football puzzle game with Invincibles called F2 Target Tekkers, which marked the first time that Invincibles Studio had made a collaborative title with an external party.

Invincibles Studio is an independent mobile game developer, established in 2004 and based in Preston, Lancashire, which specialises in football games.

Soccer Manager 2023 is the latest of Invincibles Studio’s flagship series, a mobile football simulation game similar to the popular Football Manager series. Invincibles claims the series has had more than 50m total downloads.

The 2023 edition contains a range of worldwide licenses including the SPFL and the Bundesliga, as well as partnerships with well-known clubs like Wolverhampton Wanderers and Inter Milan. Wolves also have esports operations including a Rainbow Six team.

The game allows players to create their dream side from more than 25,000 official FIFPRO licensed players, allowing them to build a club and simulate their squad in a 3D match engine.

“It has been a pleasure, as always, to deal with Mikel and the team around him. We are excited to work with him more closely in the coming months.”

The studio works alongside football publications such as Goal, and its website states its games are played in every country in the world, spanning across 11 released titles to date.

The studio commented: “We are proud of our roots in the North West of England and our innovative team of developers – who are as excited about the games that they produce as the people who play them – flourish professionally in a friendly, exciting and fast-paced environment. We have created a formula for success and our company continues to grow, year on year.”
