Newcastle to host new ‘Discover: Esports’ B2B conference

Discover Esports

Discover: Esports has been announced, a new B2B conference which focuses on educating brands, businesses and individuals on the fundamentals of the esports industry.

It takes place in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on November 29th and 30th 2022, and will feature several industry sessions on esports.

The event is mainly for those new to esports, rather than those already experienced within it. It’s being put on by founder Sally Kevan, as well as Chris Kissack, former esports advisor for Digital Isle of Man, an executive agency within the Isle of Man Government.

Tickets cost £150 across the two days as an early bird rate, or £200 for full price.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to learn about the esports ecosystem, its opportunities, and go back to the basics – things like jargon and abbreviations in esports and what they mean, how the different leagues and divisions work, how content creators work with esports organisations and so on.

‘Discover: Esports is for brands, businesses and individuals who are looking to engage with the esports industry with authentic knowledge and understanding so they can maximise and capitalise more effectively from their interactions, but also create their own initiatives which are welcomed by those in the industry,’ reads a blurb.

Newcastle was also going to be home to a Call of Duty event this year, but it was cancelled.

Chris Kissack said: “Esports is not always easy to understand. It is a very exciting industry to be a part of, one I have been part of since the ’90s, with so many opportunities for different brands, businesses and individuals to get involved, but it moves so quickly and trying to activate authentically within it can be a real challenge without a solid foundational knowledge of the basics.

“What Discover Esports will deliver is authentic knowledge from those who live and breathe esports and the world of competitive gaming. It is going to be awesome.”

Discover: Esports founder Sally Kevan added: “Having worked in the wonderful world of business to business game events over the last 10 years, i have watched, listened and learnt alot about esports, but it’s still an area of games that I felt was
needing to be understood better, especially by the wider business world.

“Discover Esports will deliver knowledge and understand to brands and business that want to learn how to engage effectively and authentically with the world of esports.”

Update (October 12th): The first line-up of speakers has been announced:
