Original article: Annual UK video games event EGX will once again be taking place in London this month, with EGX 2022 featuring a host of esports activities.

EGX has announced a few esports tournaments taking place over the four days from September 22nd to 25th 2022. They’re run by Reedpop/EGX with SpaceTime Strategies on board as tournament admins, with help from the Visual Platform team in the UK (including Marc Denton from the Capcom Tour). Luke Thompson, who works on PAX and EGX doing esports, is also the former head of esports and events for Psyonix and created the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).

Perhaps the most unique esports competition at EGX this year is a GoldenEye “ultimate tournament” – a casual tournament with several prizes in the works.

The classic retro first-person shooter game from the Nintendo 64 era is celebrating its 25th birthday. And EGX will also have an exclusive panel with the game’s developers at the EGX Theatre on Saturday September 24th 2022 from 12pm. Game director Martin Hollis, artists Karl Hilton and Brett Jones and composer Graeme Norgate will be a part of the panel.

The news comes around the GoldenEye 007 Remastered announcement, with the game set to launch on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles.

There will also be talks from Yogscast, Twitch, Valve and more, with the latter taking place at 4pm BST on Thursday September 21st 2022.

Valve Live will be a Q&A session with Valve’s Alden Kroll and Erik Peterson (who will be streaming in live from Seattle) about Steam and the latest opportunities with the platform. There are more GI Live talks from EGX 2022 here and other EGX 2022 panel talks here.

‘Last year we featured several FGC tournaments and this year we are expanding the schedule to include more solo and team-based competitions. We are awarding £6,500 in cash prizing and will combine the EGX Arena and PC Freeplay spaces into one to offer flexible qualifying and freeplay hours for our fans.’

Also on Thursday, there’s a £1,000 Splitgate 4v4 open qualifier taking place from 11am to 3pm, followed by £1,000 finals from 3pm to 5pm.

Looking towards Friday September 23rd, 2v2 Rocket League and 1v1 Street Fighter V tournaments will take place, with the former running from 11am to 2pm and 7.30pm to 9pm, and the latter from 11am to 5pm.

Looking to Saturday September 24th, Valorant will get a £1,000 open qualifier from 11am to 3pm and £1,000 finals from 3pm to 5pm.

Also on the Saturday, a Multiversus competition will get underway from 11am to 2pm. There will be £500 up for grabs, plus goodies from Warner Bros including a PS5 for the winner.

Then, on Sunday 25th, another Street Fighter V tournament (11am to 2pm) and Rocket League tournament (11am to 5pm) will take place.

Finally, a Cosplay Showcase on Saturday and Sunday will occur, including a non-competitive cosplay catwalk (sign ups happen on the day before 1pm) and an EGX 2022 cosplay competitive craftmanship series (sign ups online).

Daniel Jones, marketing manager at EGX, told Esports News UK: “We are very excited about this year’s line-up of esports tournaments at EGX Arena in London.

“Last year we featured several FGC tournaments as fan favourites, and this year we are expanding the schedule to include a nice palette of solo and team-based competitions.
