Update: X7’s Summer 2022 roster has been confirmed, with SlowQ, IcyGale and KT announed as sub players.

Attila said: “This will be my home for the summer season. Without me, they managed to win their league and reach the quarter finals at the European Masters. Having an equal or worse result would be a disappointment, so we have to work to win as much as possible in the rest of the year.”

This month it’s been reported Isle of Man esports organisation X7 Esports are making three new player signings in time for the NLC Summer 2022 Season.

South Korean top-laner Kim ‘Chasy’ Dong-hyeon, British jungler Mohammed ‘MC’ Chinoune and Portuguese bot-laner Amadeu ‘Attila’ Dias de Carvalho are expected to sign for X7, as reported by Brieuc ‘LEC Wooloo’ Seeger for Upcomer. These will replace top-laner Jaeger, jungler Haru and Nata, with the latter joining GamerLegion in the German Prime League.

Esports News UK has it on good authority that these players will be joining NLC champions X7, who recently reached the last eight in the Spring 2022 EU Masters. But what are they like, in terms of their play style? How will they fit into the X7 roster? And for Chasy and Attila, what will they bring to the NLC? We asked coaches and casters below.

The trio have a range of experiences, with MC playing with Riddle in the NLC, Chasy in the LCK and Challengers League with Damwon, and Attila, who was most recently with Giants Gaming in the Spanish Superliga and has experience in the LEC with Vitality.

The changes would mean X7’s Summer 2022 NLC first team roster would be:

  • Top: Chasy (South Korea)
  • Jungle: MC (UK)
  • Mid: Tempt (South Korea)
  • ADC: Attila (Portugal)
  • Support: Kasing (UK)

X7 are also recruiting for their academy roster, Ascent.

X7 are continuing to build quite the Korean/UK core, with two players from each region.

We spoke with three people with knowledge of each new first team player and their respective regions: NLC caster Nymaera on MC, LCK caster Chronicler on Chasy and Giants coach Lorcz on Attila. Here’s what they had to say below.

“MC steps up for big games in a way few do in the NLC”

Alex ‘Nymaera’ Hapgood, LEC, NLC and EU Masters caster

“When I think of MC, I think of the first time he really cropped up on my radar. Last year when I started guesting on the NLC there was this one jungler who’d just nailed his early aggressive matchups, he’d be harassing a Viego as Lee Sin so hard he wouldn’t take his first red buff until something ridiculous like 5:30 into the game, and of course that was MC. That really left a mark on me.

“MC’s a player who steps up for big games in a way few do in the NLC, when this guy’s on form he leads from the front in a very Haru-esque fashion from what we saw of them both this split topically.

“Not only does he play fast and up-in-your-grill, he does it on a lot of unexpected champions too, so when I heard X7 was picking him up, a few cogs started turning in my head – and I reckon even though he’s got the hugest of shoes to fill, he’ll grow nicely into that role.

“I look forward to seeing him play with whatever inevitably star-studded roster X7 put together.”

“I expect Chasy to absolutely murder in the ERLs”

Maurits ‘Chronicler’ Jan Meeusen, LCK caster
Chronicler

“Chasy is an interesting one – he’s very solid but he was a little hard to rate. That’s because DK was a pretty decent team with a good winrate, and then they lost their AD Rahel to the main roster because Ghost was underperforming – and they kinda tanked.

“At that point, Chasy and Lucid were the only solid part of the roster, but the team wasn’t amazing.

“All in all, I expect him to absolutely murder in the ERLs (European Regional Leagues). He’s a great player – a carry player – at least he was in Damwon.

“Chasy is exceptional on champions like Gwen and Gnar, and he played Vayne top once. So he’s a resource heavy 1v9 player, but he was on a team that sucked and didn’t know how to play around him, because it’s CL. I’d say he was like top half of CL, but definitely not top three. However, CL is a mechanical playground, so he will probably destroy against weaker opposition.

“I’ve co-streamed every game of Challengers for Spring and Summer last year, and I love the players in that league.”

“Attila is talented enough to be back in the LEC – X7 mean business with this signing”

Lorcan ‘Lorcz’ Elliott, assistant coach and head analyst at Giants Gaming in the Spanish Superliga

“Attila is probably one of the most passionate players I have ever seen. He has an unmatched desire to win and you can clearly see his emotions though wins and losses. After this split, like myself, he was devastated at the result, especially since it went down to the final game.

“He is certainly talented enough to be back in the LEC and if you are looking for an ADC to play towards and rely on in teamfights, then he is the one – he sets himself up well with a reliable laning phase, good cs numbers and can then translate this into high damage output to carry games later on.

“X7 mean business with this signing for sure. I’d expect them to be winning the league from picking up Attila (alongside Kasing) without seeing the rest of the roster.

“Then, Attila and Kasing are a duo that have already won the Superliga and Iberian Cup back-to-back, so clearly have a good amount of synergy already – and they’ve proved they work well as a duo. I think they have a good dynamic, get along well and give each other suitable information to play lanes successfully and build big leads.

“Kasing as a teammate is all you can ask for – he has experience, incredible talent and can help rookies or newcomers reach their full potential – a lot of credit has to go to Ray for the development Bumm (113) made at the end of 2021 before he joined KC and won EUM this split. They worked hard together to improve and from his season at X7, it’s clear Kasing has continued to grow as a player with another EUM quarter final performance whilst overcoming different challenges (a language barrier initially). Maybe they can go even further in summer.

“Overall I’m glad to see they will both be on a strong team for summer, because they are such good players and they both have diverse champion pools, which hopefully should improve the viewer experience in the NLC. It’s good to see the league continue to bring in big names, because it’s what’s needed to improve viewership and you would hope bring in more sponsors.”

Lorcz also added that he hopes Giants meet X7 in the next EUM finals, and reminded readers that Giants have three UK people on board – jungler Maxlore, data analyst Zero and himself.
