Red Bull Solo Q, the official 1v1 League of Legends tournament, has revealed details of its 2022 return including UK qualifiers this summer.

National tournaments and international qualifiers kick off in March 2022, giving amateur players the opportunity to compete at the highest level and offering League of Legends fans a different viewing experience.

Update (August 2022): Aspiring pro players are welcomed to the Red Bull Gaming Sphere London to train and compete for the upcoming open qualifiers. Sign-ups for UK League of Legends duelists to register for the EU West Qualifier are open now at https://www.redbull.com/int-en/events/solo-q-international-qualifiers-2022/.

Fans can also join the official Red Bull UK Discord channel to ask any further questions.

The top players will compete at the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals later this year, battling for bragging rights as the world’s best amateur 1v1 League of Legends player.

Red Bull Solo Q’s format consists of 1v1 duels, where the player must either be first to draw first blood, take down the opponent’s tower, or reach 100cs to claim victory.

Last year, more than 55,000 players registered for the 2021 Red Bull Solo Q season across 33 different countries. The tournament is founded on giving solo amateur players the opportunity to showcase their abilities on stage, while representing their country.

The tournament circuit is kicking off in March, with national tournaments spread throughout the year and across 25 countries, alongside International Qualifiers in various regions giving players a second chance to progress.

The champion of each event will earn the chance to reach the highest level of the competition – at the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals, which took place at BMW Welt in Munich last year.

“This tournament has shown me that I shouldn’t give up and that I can still pursue a great and hopefully fulfilling career in esports and League of Legends going forward.”

Each participating country will have multiple national qualifiers, taking place throughout the year. National qualifier winners will then head into a playoff stage that will crown one national champion. Players in the international qualifier will go through similar steps to identify those summoners that will head to the World Finals, where players from all over the world will battle for the title of Red Bull Solo Q 2022 champion.

The 2021 Red Bull Solo Q UK finals took place last June, with big-name broadcast talent on board. Talent that got involved with Solo Q last year included (pictured, left to right) Medic, Caedrel, Troubleinc, Sjokz and Masterplay.

The 2021 champion, Mads ‘Viggomopsen’ Mikkelsen, dominated the World Finals. He kicked off his journey with victory at the Danish National Qualifier.

Viggomopsen said: “I had actually planned to stop playing League of Legends for some time. But I think this tournament has shown me that I shouldn’t give up quite yet and that I can still pursue a great and hopefully fulfilling career in esports and League of Legends going forward. My goal is to join a team in a European Regional League and hit Challenger again.”

Red Bull Solo Q has joined forces with AGON by AOC, gaming monitor brand, as the official monitor partner for the event.
