End Youth Homelessness (EYH), a movement of 11 UK youth homelessness charities, has launched its second annual ‘Gaming for Good’ event backed by several UK streamers.

The initiative is designed to raise money to help homeless young people into housing and employment.

The charity is rallying influencers from the gaming world to support the event by streaming sessions with a donation-based joining fee. Gaming for Good has garnered the support of UK influencers including Dota 2 content creator PyrionFlax, as well as InDeeDee and Kandee Krinzel.

For two weeks in February (12th to 26th), End Youth Homelessness is calling on the public to set up their own gaming fundraisers through their site, with an aim for each participant to raise £121 in support of the 121,000 young people facing homelessness.

The announcement comes one year after End Youth Homelessness’ first gaming charity event.

End Youth Homelessness, which together supports over 40,000 16-25 year olds each year, has warned of an increase in youth homelessness against a backdrop of the sharp increase in the cost of living, the removal of the universal credit uplift and the crisis in youth mental health. Figures show that almost 122,000 young people asked for help from their local council because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

“By getting involved in Gaming for Good, you can connect with friends and family whilst raising vital funds for the nation’s most vulnerable young people.”

Research has also found that 15% of UK-based children (1.5m) are thought to have worsening mental health issues as a result of the pandemic.

“By getting involved in Gaming for Good, you can connect with friends and family whilst raising vital funds for the nation’s most vulnerable young people. We’re delighted to already have the support of such a diverse group of gamers and can’t wait for the fun to begin,” said Nick Connolly from End Youth Homelessness.

Streamer Kandee Krinzel commented: “I’m so thrilled to be invited back to help End Youth Homlessness again this year. I’m determined to make things bigger and better than last year and knowing I’m making a difference and continuing my Aunt’s legacy makes the Gaming For Good event the most important one of the year to me.”
