The ShEsports Cup has celebrated its inaugural Christmas Special tournament, the third event in the series, bringing women from across sports and entertainment for a FIFA event.
Taking place at the Gfinity arena inside VUE Cinema at Fulham Broadway in London, event co-founder Rachel Stringer was joined by England striker and Lionesses fastest ever hat-trick scorer Alessia Russo, alongside a host of professional footballers, gamers and influencers.
Those involved included Lirian Santos, Olivia Weedall, Maz Pacheco, Lisa Manley, Rosie Kamita, Mollie Kmita and Becky James.
The event was also joint founded by talent and marketing agency Blueprint Sports & Entertainment.
Maz Pacheco and her team stormed to a decisive victory on the night seeing off tough competition from team Russo. The win will see members of team Pacheco return next year to defend their title.
Maz Pacheco said of the victory: “It’s been an amazing experience and I am so thrilled to have been able to take part in such an inspiring event bringing women together from a multitude of backgrounds. To win as a team is beyond brilliant.”
Rachel Stringer added: “It’s fantastic to be able to bring so many inspiring women together for another ShEsports Cup tournament. It’s a privilege to see so much sporting talent in one place, showing what women can do at the top of their game.”
The ShEsports Cup launched in 2020 as an all-female series of gaming events that aims to inspire women to follow their dreams and bridge the equality gap. It is streamed on EA Sports’ FIFA Twitch channel and is produced by tournament provider and esports company Gfinity.

Michael Brown, head of broadcasting from Gfinity, said: “Over 60% of gamers are male which means women have remained underrepresented in competitive gaming for far too long. George Woffenden from joint founders of the tournament, Blueprint Sports & Entertainment, added: “This year has been a huge success for the ShEsports Cup and it’s great to see it’s continued evolution. 2022 is set to be a huge year as we look to take the tournaments development to the next level.”
The next ShEsports Cup tournament dates will be announced in early 2022.
