Former Guild Esports director Danny Lopez joins Galaxy Racer

Danny Lopez, who worked at UK organisation Guild Esports for a year, has joined Dubai-based esports org Galaxy Racer as chief content officer.

At Guild he held the title of director of marketing and brand, and in March 2021 he became director of brand and content, helping to put the org on the map.

Earlier this month, Danny announced he was moving on from Guild, and today it’s been revealed he’s joining Galaxy Racer.

He has over six years of experience at a senior level in esports and gaming, and will lead the development and implementation Galaxy Racer’s global content strategy.

He was also recently nominated as one of the finalists in the 2021 Esports Awards, in the ‘Esports Creative Of The Year’ category.

Danny has also held creative director roles at a number of organisations, including the likes of Fnatic. Further to this, he played an instrumental role in the viral content between Dr. Disrespect and Astralis.

Guild’s executive chairman Carleton Curtis also left the company last month.

Galaxy Racer was founded in 2019 and has 11 esports teams including those in League of Legends, Dota 2, CSGO, Fortnite, PUBG Mobile and more, over 60 esports athletes from 22 countries, and 20 content creators across Middle East North Africa (MENA) and Southeast Asia (SEA). The org says it has amassed more than 160m followers and 1bn monthly views.

Galaxy Racer is also the organiser in Dubai for Girl Gamer Festival.

Recently, Galaxy Racer joined forces together with Arsenal superstar English Premier League footballer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his brother William-Fils ‘Willy’ Aubameyang, by hosting the first-ever Fortnite esports tournament between Europe and the Middle East, the Galaxy Racer Aubameyang Cup.
