UK-based esports organisation Method has moved into Minecraft esports with a new speedrunning event and the signing of six competitive Minecraft speedrunners.
Method will host its first ever Method Rush: Minecraft Invitational on June 19th 2021, where some of the top Minecraft speedrunners will compete for their share of a $3,500 prize pool.
Method has also put together a Minecraft stream team, consisting of New Zealand speedrunner K4yfour, who is known for defining the ‘Hypermodern Meta’ and has placed high on the leaderboards throughout its history, US speedrunner Couriway who has held four solo world records, as well as Feinberg, another US speedrunner who started his first survival world on his 2012 Macbook trackpad.
Then there’s Russian speedrunner Dimeax, who has set three records in the random seed glitchless (RSG) category, Germany-based streamer NiceTwice who has also set and held multiple world records, and completing the line-up is Dowsky, a former World of Warcraft streamer with a focus on high-rated arena and started speedrunning in the Super Mario 64 community.
Method said in a release sent to Esports News UK: “At Method, we seek to celebrate as many MMO & RPG community esports achievements as we can. That’s why over the last several months, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to create entertaining esports events that feature the highest quality gameplay possible. Today, we’re thrilled to announce Method’s latest esports stream team and expansion into Minecraft.
“Minecraft is an open-world sandbox game where players can create almost anything imaginable – the opportunities to build and innovate are endless – which makes it a perfect addition to Method’s community-driven esports program.
“The Method Rush: Minecraft Invitational is the first of many in our Minecraft esports series and we cannot wait to do more. In the future look out for more Method Rush events and maybe even some MMO crossover events (we’re looking at you and your World of Warcraft dungeon building skills @MethodGokiburi) because we’re just getting started and ready to create incredible content for the Minecraft community.”
The Method Rush: Minecraft Invitational takes place at twitch.tv/method on June 19th.
