David Beckham joins Fortnite’s Icon Series tomorrow, with reactive skins and Free Cup to unlock more rewards

Sir David Beckham is the latest addition to Fortnite’s Icon Series, arriving in the Item Shop on 17th July at 8 PM ET, which is 1 AM on July 18th for UK players. The former England captain and Inter Miami CF co-owner becomes one of the most recognisable real-world figures to join the series, and Epic has put together a fairly substantial cosmetic drop to mark the occasion.

Beckham himself said of the collaboration: “Fortnite creates new and exciting ways to connect with fans around the world. It’s been great working with them to create something that celebrates my career on and off the pitch.”

Two outfits are dropping with the collaboration. The David Beckham Outfit is the on-pitch look, complete with tattoos that glow gold on every elimination. It includes a shirtless alternate style, an elimination-reactive Back Bling in the form of Beckham’s Number, and a LEGO Minifig variant. There’s also the iconic white England kit, so you can go home early in style, and that black suit he likes wearing to VIP boxes. There’s also an Emote-reactive and damage-reactive Club Crest Back Bling, also with a LEGO Minifig variant.

Rounding out the drop are Beckham’s Shot Emote, the Meteor Baller Pickaxe with impact-reactive effects, and the Number Seven Scythe Pickaxe with weak point-reactive functionality. Big animations for the big man.

How to get David Beckham for free

On 17th July, players can compete in the David Beckham Icon Cup across Trios Battle Royale or Trios Zero Build playlists. Top regional performers will earn the Club Owner David Beckham Outfit, while the very top finishers overall will take home the full David Beckham Bundle. Full schedule and scoring details are available in the Compete Tab in-game. This is the sort of thing also happening with the Odyssey skins cross over, where some can win the skins earlier than those who buy it.

Also worth noting for UK fans, Beckham becomes the second major UK figure to join the Icon Series in quick succession, following Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson’s announcement last month. Beckham is not the only football star to join this list, with Harry Kane also making the roster several years ago.

Shame it didn’t come home last night, But at least posh spice has golden tatts for some reason.

Beckham also featured as part owner of Guild Esports at ~5% stock shares ownership, which turned out to be a not so great place for women. But, Guild did promo Fortnite events a lot.
