Update (December 11th 2021): British LEC caster and streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has hinted that his future as an LEC caster is up in the air.
He posted the following couple of tweets over the past few days:
It’s understood that casters are currently negotiating with Riot Games regarding their contracts for 2022, both in terms of pay and also their ability to co-stream (Riot apparently isn’t giving casters co-streaming rights).
Broadcast talent are generally hired on a freelance basis, even long-time hosts like Sjokz, who spoke about the matter in this video and said she has not been signed yet either.
Sjokz said: “Discussions take a while, I would’ve loved to have been signed right now. Last year I signed like a day before the show started. Caedrel loves streaming and has obviously been doing great streaming, but he can’t co-stream a lot of the things he wants to. On the other hand, he really loves casting, he wants to learn and contribute a lot. I think it’s all a bit complicated at the moment.
“Ideally Caedrel wouldn’t want to choose between casting and streaming. This is not an issue exclusive to the LEC or Riot, but I think in general across the board in esports, talent is not paid fairly in comparison to the general entertainment business.”
Esports personality Montecristo added further context and info, saying League casters are ‘in a bind’ right now.
Caedrel was recently linked with a coaching move to Vitality, who just announced their 2022 LEC roster including Alphari and Perkz. You can read more about that below:

British LEC caster and popular streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has spoken about reports suggesting he may be considering a coaching role for 2022.
The Dot Esports free agency show on Twitch revealed a number of scoops and news this week, including a suggestion that Caedrel may be considering a League of Legends coaching role for 2022.
He’s apparently received interest from several orgs both in Europe and North America, including LEC sides SK Gaming, Team BDS, G2 and Team Vitality, as well as TSM in the LCS.
Caedrel said on stream: “I got a lot of offers, I said no to a lot of offers. I don’t know what to say, it’s been a very weird off-season. I spoke to a lot of people, I spoke to a lot of teams and said no to a lot of teams.
“The reason I said no to the NA (North American) teams was because I don’t want to move to NA yet, I’m not ready in my life to move there. There were some really cool offers from NA.
“For the EU offers… I won’t go into details. Esports, man. Things in esports are absolute wild fires man. One, two, three people know, then six, then 12, then 55, then 128 then 650…”
The main rumour is that he’s joining Vitality. But Caedrel said: “I didn’t sign with them yet – nothing is confirmed.”

Vitality are said to be forming a ‘super team’ consisting of players including Team Liquid British top-laner Alphari and Croatian mid-laner Perkz, who recently left Cloud9, as well as Mad Lions Czech ADC Carzzy.
Riot is changing League of Legends esports player transfer rules after G2 blocked Perkz from joining Fnatic via a contract clause.

Caedrel started out as a mid-laner in League of Legends, before moving to jungle, then Caedrel last year stepped away from pro play to casting and streaming.
As a player, he was most recently with UK-based organisation Excel Esports, where he came close to reaching the LEC playoffs a few times, notably when Schalke pulled off their miracle run to pip Excel to the post.
Team Vitality assistant coach Mephisto tweeted out asking fans if Caedrel could finally break his curse and reach playoffs with a team in a potential coaching role.
Almost 14,000 people voted, with a slight majority saying no, that he is cursed.
