UK-based esports businesses and brands are celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend with a few offers and artwork on social media.
The official UK, Ireland and Nordics League of Legends account on Twitter, which has almost 2m followers, posted an amazing piece of art to celebrate.
The piece of colourful artwork, produced by Caelys, a content creator for League of Legends France, features a host of recognisable LoL characters, and the following message to congratulate the Queen on her 70 years of service: “GGWP Queen Elizabeth 2! Congrats on reaching Plat!”
Caitlyn, whose voice actor in Arcane is the British Katie Leung, is pictured wearing a Union Jack hat, next to Union Jack Fiddlesticks.
The image also features Gnar, Veigar and Cho’Gath wearing top hats, as well as what appears to be Striker Ezreal and Striker Lucian playing football, plus League of Legends royalty Ashe, Qiyana and Isolde.
Twitch can also be seen peeking his head out of a sewer holding a Union Jack flag, and the newest League of Legends champion, jungler Bel’Veth is also looking out of a window.
Elsewhere, merch company Raven posted a tweet featuring some of its most memorable apparel in British esports, including London Royal Ravens and Excel Esports clothing, and it also created a Platinum Jubilee themed jacket.
@ravenesports Design a jacket in honour of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we understood the assignment! 👑 🇬🇧 #platinumjubilee #queenelizabeth #fyp #foryoupage #ravencreate #esportsapparel #fashiontiktok #design ♬ God Save the Queen – Donald Fraser
London-based gaming bar Platform is also offering a free Kir Royale drink with every booking from Thursday June 2nd 2022 to Sunday June 5th.
Veloce Esports also posted an unusual video featuring actors playing the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William getting involved in some sim racing.
Aside from this, there hasn’t been much activity in UK esports celebrating the jubilee. If you’re getting involved in some way, please let us know and we’ll update this article.
To all our readers and those in UK esports, have a great Jubilee bank holiday weekend.
Oh, and “God Save the Queen. We mean it, man!”
