London-based esports organisation Fnatic is hosting a couple of League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) 2021 viewing parties for fans this Sunday.
The Fnatic Worlds London viewing party will take place at the Clapham Grand on October 17th from 11am to 7pm BST, while a French Fnatic Worlds event will get underway at the same time and date at the Grand Rex in Paris.
The free viewing parties will let fans watch Fnatic’s last three group stage games at Worlds 2021, where they will look to turn around a difficult start to qualify for playoffs. Fnatic are currently sitting bottom of group C with three losses, but it’s not over yet – the org have been known to get results when it counts.
Fnatic will play against Royal Never Give Up, Hanwha Life Esports and PSG Talon at around 1pm, 3pm and 5pm respectively this Sunday.
As well as bringing fans together in person to watch the matches, Fnatic will also be hosting 1v1 competitions and chances to win prizes. There’s also the option to attend online, so it looks like the event may be livestreamed.
The Paris event will also feature Fnatic streamer Rhobalas.
The viewing parties have been organised in conjunction with Cooldown, a service that lets esports fans find and arrange their own viewing parties in bars across the UK, owned by drink and brewing company AB InBev.
As mentioned, Fnatic have had a tough start to Worlds. Fnatic Rising’s UK LoL scene bot-laner Bean was called up to Worlds at the last minute as Upset was forced to return home due an ‘urgent family matter’.
Other EU teams haven’t fared much better. Rogue and Mad Lions are currently third in group A and group D respectively, with one win and two losses each, though Rogue mid-laner Larssen told Esports News UK he hopes Rogue will make EU proud at Worlds 2021.
Chinese and Korean teams at Worlds 2021 have largely got off to a superb start, but how will the second half of the group stage go?
Matches are underway again from 12pm BST midday today on the LoLesports website and Riot Games Twitch channel.
