Getting married in Skyrim might seem pointless but it’s not without its benefits.
Apart from unlocking an achievement, you’ll get someone to cook for you and even make money. We list all the possible characters you can marry and explain how to tie the knot in Skyrim.
How to get married in Skyrim
1. You’ll need to find an Amulet of Mara. The easiest way to get this is to head to Riften and buy it for 200g from Maramal. He can be found in the Bee and the Barb or the Temple of Mara.
2. Find your character of choice, wear the amulet and talk to them. If you’ve met their prerequisites, you’ll have the option to ask them to marry you.
3. Head back to Maramal at the Temple of Mara and explain you want to get married. The ceremony will take place there the next day between 6am and 6pm. Don’t miss it!
4. After the marriage your spouse will ask you where you want to live. You can choose to move into their house (if they have one) or move into a house you have already bought.
Congrats. You’ve unlocked the achievement and got yourself a partner. They can cook you meals, hold onto items and follow you around as a companion.
