The LEC Summer Split kicks off on 24th July, and Riot has revealed everything you need to know ahead of the season. The news comes with clarification on tournament format, alongside key dates for playoffs, playoff slots, and where the entire LEC split will take place.
When does the LEC Summer Split start?
The regular season gets underway on 24th July, running through to 30th August. Matches are played in Best of Three format across the regular season, with two matches per show day. The season opens with a Roadtrip event hosted by Karmine Corp in Paris from 24th–26th July before moving into the standard studio schedule.
There is a break in the middle of the regular season for the Studio Stage, running from 21st–24th August, featuring two matches per day across four days.
The regular season then resumes from 28th–30th August (the same dates as Valorant’s finals), with Sunday featuring three matches rather than the usual two to close things out.
When do LEC Summer Playoffs start?
Playoffs begin on 5th September with the Movistar KOI Roadtrip in Madrid, running through to the 6th. The bracket is a seeded double elimination format, with all matches played as Best of Five. It follows the same process as the Spring Split, albeit with the roadtrip giving playoff teams some added excitement away from Berlin.
The top six teams from the regular season enter the bracket. The top four teams go into the Upper Bracket Round 1 and battle it out. It’s likely the first seed will get to choose their opponent, similarly to the Spring Split where Vitality chose KOI.
Playoffs then continue with the Quarterfinals from 11th–12th September, before the Nice Finals take centre stage from 18th–20th September for the Split Final and the crowning of the LEC Summer champion.
The headline event of the LEC summer calendar is the Nice Finals in Nice, France, running across three days from 18th–20th September. Three matches take place across the weekend, all Best of Five, culminating in the Split Final on Sunday 20th September.
Tickets for LEC events in Berlin are on sale now at Riot’s ticket booking site.
