Granny’s Knockers on-board Danish CS icons to raise money for Breast Cancer UK

Grannys Knockers to be represented by ex-Preasy

UK Counter-Strike fundraising community Granny’s Knockers have announced that established Danish players will be representing the brand.

The roster have not been signed by Granny’s Knockers – they are still free agents individually looking for a new home.

They will play under the Granny’s Knockers moniker, which has raised $7,346 for Breast Cancer UK since 2022.

The Danish players consist of TMB, refrezh, kristou, b0RUP and niko.

Granny’s Knockers said: “Today we welcome true icons of the Counter Strike scene. They will be carrying the torch and representing the Granny’s Knockers name during their upcoming tournaments whilst helping us with some amazing fundraiser events we’ve got planned over the coming weeks!

“The roster are still Free Agents and on the market for any organisation or sponsor interested in providing them with a permanent home.”

The new-look Knockers will make their debut under the moniker on Wednesday May 1st as they face Alternate Attax in an Elisa Invitational Spring 2024 elimination match.

Playing under the Granny’s Knockers name gives the roster a chance to get away from the Preasy brand, but the players are not necessarily going to stay together if individual offers come in, as b0RUP confirmed on X (formerly Twitter).

He said:

“Super happy to be representing this charity for upcoming tournaments with ex-Preasy! This doesn’t mean we will stay together as a team and therefore we are still looking for separate homes.”

Granny’s Knockers are typically home to UK mixed teams who fundraise through domestic LANs, with the community notably facing The Binmen in the Epic.LAN 40 showmatch, which brought in almost £3,000 in donations.

At Epic 40, Granny’s Knockers also cleaned house and won the pub quiz, donating their winnings to the fundraising campaign.

The charitable cause has not been lost here, as throughout the time that ex-Preasy play under the name, Granny’s Knockers will be hosting weekly fundraisers for Breast Cancer UK.

Emenjay on how he arranged the ex-Preasy Granny’s Knockers move

Granny’s Knockers co-founder Josh ‘Emenjay’ Martin told Esports News UK: “The move came around from a simple message to b0RUP (the goat), since they are all free agents whilst playing under the ‘ex-Preasy’ name, I pitched the idea of playing under the Granny’s Knockers brand and doing a load of cool fundraiser stuff with us until they find new homes. The boys were enthusiastic and keen to help.

“Over the next few days we will be posting our road-map of fundraiser initiatives that will be taking place over the next few weeks with tournaments, raffles, showmatches and streamathons.

“We will also be selling GK jerseys and mousepads and donating all proceeds to charity.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the boys for giving us this opportunity to bring lots of attention to a cause that is close to us – and can’t wait for the weeks to come.”

What happened at Preasy before players began representing Granny’s Knockers?

Some of the players come from Preasy, who recently dropped their main roster to focus on their academy team instead.

The organisation said “challenges that lie within the core business that finances Preasy Esport” were making the team unsustainable.

The ex-Preasy roster have been free agents since April 1st. But right before that, they came just two wins away from making it to the PGL Copenhagen Major 2024 in February.

TMB and refrezh played alongside Altekz, roeJ and legendary rifler dupreeh, and the Danish roster fought through the Last Chance Qualifier to reach the Copenhagen Major European RMR B.

It was not to be for Preasy, who were then eliminated 3-1 with losses to Heroic, OG and Guild Eagles.

But the five released players became ‘ex-Preasy’, with Kristou, niko and b0RUP replacing dupreeh, Altekz and roeJ.
