UK esports organisation K10 won the very first Counter-Strike UK & Ireland Circuit (UKIC) LAN event on the weekend.
They turned around a 1-0 deficit in the League Season 0 grand final against Verdant to win 2-1 at the Endpoint HQ in Sheffield.
K10 were one of four teams in the LAN. They started off with a 2-0 win over DuckDuckGoose, before falling to Verdant 2-0 in the upper bracket final.
They fought back with a 2-1 win over DuckDuckGoose to set up a rematch with Verdant, and sought revenge in the final.
Viperio, who recently won a pitch investment competition, saw their CS team lose their two matches to K10 and DuckDuckGoose, but they put in a good fight, and came close to winning some maps.
The UKIC – which is run by UK esports organisation Endpoint – announced UKIC Season 0 recently, following the news of the first UK & Ireland Circuit CS LAN event towards the start of the year.
Broadcast talent for the event included Zola, Retr00 and Dweg, and the whole affair was received well by the community.
UKIC organisers on Season 0 LAN and when the Season 1 LAN is planned for 2024
Endpoint co-owner Peter Thompson said it was an amazing event, and congratulated K10 on the win:
On the future of the UKIC, Peter Thompson added to Esports News UK: “Loose dates for UKIC Season 1 – it will be starting in January 2024 and the next LAN will be in March 2024.
“Need to figure out exactly how it looks though. The plan is to do four LANs next year but they will likely look quite a bit different to this one.”
‘An unreal event with insane support’ – K10 on the UKIC Season 0 LAN victory
Taz, the CEO of K10, said after the win: “Thank you guys, the effort and skill they have showcased during this entire week was amazing!
Taz also thanked his team, consisting of dox (UK), shyyne (Norway), Tree (UK), yz0 (UK) and Rezst (Netherlands).
He added: “I cannot thank the players enough, the effort to turn that around into a W, I have no words. It’s a big motivator for us all. Thanks to UKIC, Pete and the guys at Endpoint did an amazing job this weekend.
“We cannot wait to come back to the Pracrooms and hopefully pick up another trophy. Overall it was an amazing event. The production team and casters were amazing, and shoutout to our sponsors Tradeit, TCG and Fokus.”
There’s more from Taz here in this article with UKCSGO, where he said: “We want to make sure that we’re at the top flight of the UK scene. I think moving forward, securing more elements to our sponsorship. Also, increasing the overall capital of the company so we can do more: more bootcamps like this, at Endpoint, because I can’t stress enough how important a tool like Endpoint’s facility is. So we’ll aim to be here a lot more and, realistically, to sum it up, be bigger, be better and just keep grinding.”
K10 also reacted here:
Credit must also be given to Verdant of course, for coming so close to winning.
Their Season 0 LAN roster consisted of arTisT (Ireland), Giraffe (UK), Extinct (Ireland), Wolfie (UK) and Ducky (UK).
Wolfie also said it’s the best LAN he’s been to ‘by far’.
