Could this be one of the greaTEAst partnerships in UK esports history? Yorkshire Tea will be handing out free brews to gamers at Insomnia Gaming FesTEAval.
The British tea brand will be serving hot drinks from their converted ice cream van known as Little Urn, at the Birmingham NE-Tea from April 7th to 10th 2020TEA (2023).
Yorkshire Tea told Esports Brews UK that while most people equate gaming with cold energy drinks, they know many gamers enjoy Yorkshire Tea.
The brand has already built up relationships with gaming brands and personalities, including wrapping The Spiffing Brit’s car in its landscape design in this quali-tea video, and there’s also been a Yorkshire Tea Xbox controller designed by artist Pope.
Update: as of November 2023 these Yorkshire Tea game controllers can now be purchased.
Now, Yorkshire Tea will be serving brews across the bank holiday weekend at Insomnia 70 next month.
Designer Pope will also be expected to show their creativi-TEA at i70, with Yorkshire Tea expecting Pope to ‘unveil something special’ at the festival on Saturday April 8th.
Insomnia Gaming Festival of course features a LAN hall, esports tournaments and a gaming expo plus other activities. All in all, this partnership clearly brings a new meaning to teabagging in-game at LAN.
Okay, that’s probably enough silly tea puns squeezed into one article. Well… maybe there’s room for just one or two more.
‘I can bet you’ll find most of the Player1 Events crew hovering around the Yorkshire Tea van’
Phil Crawford, marketing and brand manager at Insomnia organiser Player1 Events, is delighTEAd with the partnership.
Phil told Esports News UK: “It’s probably no surprise that we’re all big tea drinkers in the P1E office so we were delighted when Yorkshire Tea reached out wanting to provide cups of tea to our community at Insomnia.
“It’s great for us to provide a nice alternative to our wonderful energy drink partners. Some gamers want to stay wired all weekend and others want to relax, have a cup of tea and take the weekend at their own pace. I can bet you’ll find most of the Player1 Events crew hovering around the Yorkshire Tea van.”
Carly Murphy from the Yorkshire Tea team added: “We know that lots of gamers are fans of a proper brew, so we thought we would come down, say hello and provide some refreshment.
“Plus, we are hoping to be joined on the Saturday by gaming legend Pope to unveil something special.”
