UK gaming event Insomnia Gaming Festival has today announced it’s hosting a brand new upgraded Valorant i70 tournament featuring a £10,000 prize pool.
The tournament will replace the previous Valorant BYOC open, which was won by M4lik at i69 last summer and had a £5,000 prize pool.
An online qualifier will take place before the event itself, where two teams will qualify directly for the knockout phase of the tournament.
The latter stages of the Valorant i70 tournament will be shown on the esports stage at Insomnia, where visitors are free to watch the action unfold. This will of course take place at i70, which will run from Friday April 7th to Monday April 10th 2023 at the Birmingham NEC.
The Valorant iSeries Challenge is the newest addition to the roster of esports events taking place at i70 this year. Featuring a £10,000 prize fund, and both online and LAN qualifiers, organisers say it ‘presents the perfect opportunity for aspiring Valorant pros to sink their teeth into high-level competition with a sizable reward for high placement’.
This announcement also comes alongside the news that Insomnia has partnered with Challengermode to create an Insomnia Esports Space, where players will be rewarded for strong monthly performances on the Valorant ranked ladder.
The Valorant i70 tournament joins other i70 esports BYOC Opens, which were announced last week and include League of Legends, Rocket League, CSGO and Overwatch.
Matt ‘Kharne’ MacDonald, Esports Manager at Player1 Events, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing yet another premiere esports event to iSeries. The Valorant iSeries Challenge will give budding Valorant pros the opportunity to showcase their skills on the big stage, with a fantastic prize pool to reward strong performances.
“We’re excited to see players compete and can’t wait to see which teams make it to the big stage at i70!”
How to enter the Valorant i70 tournament
The online qualifier, taking place in February, will allow two teams to qualify directly for the competition’s knockout stages.
Successful teams will receive three complimentary twin hotel rooms for the duration of i70, five free BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) seats in the LAN hall with a weekend pass for a coach or manager, and five free PC rentals.
Teams wishing to compete in the BYOC qualifier at i70 can grab tickets for the event here, where they will need to bring or rent their own PCs and peripherals and be ready to play on Friday April 7th at 11 am.
