BAFTA (the British Academy Film Awards) has today announced that prominent UK games and esports personalities are getting involved with the 2023 BAFTA Games Awards.

BAFTA has announced that British esports host Frankie Ward as host of this year’s BAFTA Games Awards. Frankie will host the ceremony that takes place on Thursday March 30th at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank, London and will be livestreamed exclusively on BAFTA’s Twitch channel. The hosts of the livestream show will be announced in the coming weeks.

Fellow British presenter Julia Hardy (BBC Top Gear Gaming Show, BBC Sounds This Game Changed My Life & CBBC Game on Grandparents) will be joined by four of Twitch’s top streamers to announce the nominations for this year’s BAFTA Games Awards in a special livestream this Thursday March 3rd 2023 from 2pm GMT.

Julia will be joined by UK streamers including Tubbo, CaptainPuffy, Sharese and Leah (aka Leahviathan), who joined Excel Esports last year to work on the 2023 BAFTA Games Awards nominations show.

The nominations announcement will be livestreamed exclusively on BAFTA’s Twitch channel and will include discussion of the nominated games.

Julia Hardy said: “I’m really looking forward to revealing the nominations for this year’s BAFTA Games Awards on Thursday. I also get to chat with some of the most talented streamers about the best games of the year – I can’t wait!”

BAFTA Games Squad also announced in time for 2023 BAFTA Games Awards

BAFTA has also announced four separate streamers who will join the BAFTA Games Squad ahead of the 2023 BAFTA Games Awards.

They will co-stream the nominations and awards livestreams on their channels and take part in this year’s BAFTA Games Challenge.

These streamers are Lomadiah, Ebonix, SinowBeats and ReadySetBen.

Luke Hebblethwaite, Head of Games at BAFTA, said: “We’re delighted to have Julia and such a fantastic group of Twitch streamers supporting this year’s BAFTA Games Awards.

“We’re excited to bring BAFTA’s work – championing the very best games of the year and the talented people who made them, and inspiring the next generation of talent – to new audiences in fun and engaging ways.”

The annual celebration of excellence and creative achievement in games, the 19th annual BAFTA Games Awards, will take place on Thursday March 30th 2023 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank, London and will be livestreamed exclusively on BAFTA’s Twitch channel.

Rather than being an esports-focused event, the 2023 BAFTA Games Awards will once again focus on the games, and their publishers and developers that make them.
