The British Esports Federation has announced that Team Great Britain have reached the finals of the Global Esports Games 2022 in multiple titles.

They have qualified in the Dota 2 women’s category, along with Street Fighter V Champion Edition, and eFootball 2023, with a total of seven athletes competing for medal glory.

The players include XBigStuff (eFootball), The4Philzz (Street Fighter) and in Dota 2: Ruby, Karenlyl, Gimmick, Bellemiku and Always~Changing.

They will compete at the Global Esports Games finals, which take place from December 15th to 17th 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Team Great Britain also have teams in PUBG Mobile and the Dota 2 Open, but unfortunately these teams failed to progress to the finals.

The Global Esports Games, now in its second year, is the competitive esports event from the Global Esports Federation – contested by athletes from member federations around the world. Last year, the Great Britain Dota 2 women’s team won a silver medal at the 2021 Global Esports Games, and a silver at the Commonwealth Esports Championships earlier this year.

“Congratulations to all our teams competing at the Global Esports Games this year.” said Mark Weller, team manager for Great Britain. “With three teams heading to Istanbul, and a number of talents discovered during our Commonwealth Esports Championships run, I’m hopeful we can improve on our silver medal from Singapore 2021 and continue to build a legacy for future generations to aspire to.”

“I’m delighted to see the British teams advancing to the finals of the Global Esports Games. Another women’s team reaching a major final in Dota 2, following our success in Singapore 2021, alongside opportunities in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and eFootball 2023 highlights the level of talent we have available throughout the UK.”
