EU LCS returns, with BO3 Showmatch in week 1 of the LEC in France

Riot Games has finally unveiled what it was teasing with the Classic Showmatch. EU LCS legends from back in the day are being thrown into a League Classic Showmatch ahead of the upcoming mode’s launch. We now know who is on each team and when you can watch it.

When is the EU LCS League Classic Showmatch?

The match takes place as part of the Karmine Corp Roadtrip, kicking off the opening week of the LEC Summer Split. It will take place on Saturday July 25th from 12:30 BST / 13:30 CEST, which is rather early for an LEC schedule. The LEC’s regular broadcast is scheduled for 16:30 CEST each day, giving fans around three hours before the day’s main matchups kick off, including Vitality vs G2 Esports.

Who is playing in the EU LCS League Classic Showmatch?

The rosters are divided between Team Dynasty and Team Legacy, drawing from the 2012 to 2015 era of European League of Legends.

Team Dynasty:

• Top: Paul “sOAZ” Boyer 
• Jungle: Lauri “Cyanide” Happonen 
• Mid: Henrik “Froggen” Hansen 
• ADC: Konstantinos-Napoleon “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou 
• Support: Patrick “Nyph” Funke 

Team Legacy:

• Top: Kevin “Kev1n” Rubiszewski 
• Jungle:Alvar “Araneae” Martín Aleñar 
• Mid: Alexey “Alex Ich” Ichetovkin 
• ADC: Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles”Larsson 
• Support: Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim 

Four members of Fnatic appear across the two rosters, with sOAZ, Cyanide, Rekkles and YellOwStaR making up four fifths of Fnatic’s iconic 2013 lineup. The top side goes to Dynasty, while the bot side goes to Legacy.

For Legacy’s lineup, they are paired with Kev1n, who played for SK Gaming and Millenium at various points in his career. Araneae, the original Spanish jungler, well known for his Keep Smiling motto throughout his competitive career, joins them too. Then there’s Alex Ich, the iconic Russian mid laner, known for running away with games as your traditional mid lane superstar did and still does. He works for Riot Games as a developer now, by the way.

On the other side, we get a classic mid lane matchup with Froggen, the Danish rival renowned for his farming prowess. Will we get a classic once again? Froggen is joined by Fnatic’s top side, with FORG1VEN and Nyph in the bot lane. Nyph is Froggen’s old teammate from their Alliance and Elements days. FORG1VEN, on the other hand, is the powerhouse of EU ADCs, with the Greek superstar well known for his intensity on the Rift and in his solo queue games. If you know, you know. Here’s hoping the banter is as classic as the players.
