Team United Kingdom goes undefeated to qualify for the ENC CS2 event

Team United Kingdom has qualified for the Esports Nations Cup CS2 event. The roster went undefeated through the EUW qualifier, and alongside France, qualified through the Upper Bracket slots to secure their spot at the tournament in Riyadh.

The UK side, coached by MiGHTYMAX, tore through the upper bracket without dropping a single series. They opened with a 2-0 win over Switzerland, followed by a 2-0 victory over Italy, before completing an unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory over Belgium in the Upper Bracket Round 3 to clinch qualification directly.

The roster that did it reads as follows:

• Marco “MMS” Salomone
• Oscar “AZUWU” Bell
• Sebastian “volt” Maloș
• Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen
• Max “MiGHTYMAX” Heath (Coach)

It is hard to be surprised given who is on the team. smooya is one of the most recognisable British names in CS history, having competed at the highest levels of the European scene for years. AZUWU recently signed with the returning Luminosity squad after making an underdog run at Cologne. Gizmy is also part of the roster, who moved to 100T after his team joined Luminsoity. British-Romanian player volt also recently signed with INFINITE to play in the Romanian organisation. Players may also recognise CYPHER and MMS from their recent competitive history. Cypher featured on British squad Into The Breach alongside TSM in 2022-2023, while MMS played with Glitchtech Esports in 2025 and was a streamer with The Last Resort in 2024.

Elsewhere in the qualifier, France took the other upper bracket slot after defeating Germany 2-1 in the Upper Bracket Round 3 decider. Germany and Denmark came through the lower bracket to claim the remaining two spots, with Germany defeating Finland 2-0 in Lower Bracket Round 4 and Denmark defeating Belgium 2-0 to secure the final qualification place.

Team UK’s undefeated run is a statement performance and gives the squad real momentum heading into the Esports World Cup in Riyadh. It is another positive result for British esports in what has been a strong summer of national team performances across multiple titles.

The roster awaits November for the ENC matchup in CS2. The field is not stacked with the biggest names in the game, with Vitality’s CEO Neo confirming that no Vitality players would be participating, citing limited competitive incentive for top-tier players. It’s also 10 days before  a major end of year event to close the calendar out. That trend extends across several nations, with France and the UK both missing some of the higher-profile names that would otherwise feature. Denmark similarly lacks its most iconic players.

That said, higher-ranked active players are present across some rosters. Australia features FlyQuest members, Romania has FUT representation, and Poland brings Team Liquid talent, among other recognisable organisations dotted around. The playing field looks more open than it might at first glance, and the UK, going in undefeated from qualification, will fancy their chances.
