OG Social Media Manager confirms end of Red Bull partnership

OG DotA 2 Social Media Manager, ‘Bryndota’, has confirmed that OG and Red Bull’s partnership has formally ended.

The absence of Red Bull’s logo on OG’s redesigned green logo was noted by several outlets due to its previously prominent position on the crest.

Red Bull’s logo had previously sat above ‘OG’ on the team’s badge, holding that position for seven years between 2017 and 2025.

However, it was not immediately evident whether the news meant the end of Red Bull and OG’s longstanding partnership, or who had triggered the end of the relationship.

The SMM noted that an offer was made by Red Bull, however, the organisation chose not to renew the partnership.

Bryn shared on Discord:

“No, there was a renewal offer, but we decided not to go with that and are going in different directions.

We now have full brand control, which is very nice – for previous applications of the logo we would need RB’s [Red Bull’s] approval, for example.

It’s a decision that will benefit us in the long run 100%.”

Red Bull has now been removed as a partner from OG’s Partners page on their website, despite being initially present after the announcement of the green logo.

Chiliz Group steers OG in “different direction”

The news confirms the end of Red Bull’s partnership with OG, which had originated in 2014, prior to the main logo sponsorship from 2017 onwards.

The move is therefore a notable departure from the org’s origins, with the new ownership group of the organisation seemingly driving a shift in philosophy.

OG lists its remaining Partners as Socios.com, Secret Lab, Scan, and Melbet. Socios.com is owned by OG majority-ownership group, The Chiliz Group.

Socios.com’s business model involves cryptocurrency known as Fan Tokens. The tokens can be used to vote on club/organisation matters, though the lack of influence those tokens have has proven controversial in the past.

Chiliz’s acquisition of OG in September has brought about several changes within the organisation, including the logo and sponsorship changes above.

The takeover also saw co-founder and shareholder, Xavier Oswald, become CEO, as other co-founders Johan ‘n0tail’ Sundstein and Sébastien ‘Ceb’ Debs took on different roles in the organisation.

In terms of esports competition, OG’s DotA 2 division has pivoted to a fully Filipino team, leaving the organisation’s European roots behind.

In Counter-Strike, the signing of IGL Casper ‘cadiaN’ Møller and the loan signing of Timur ‘FL4MUS’ Maryev have marked a clear change in direction for the roster.
