EliGE returns home to Team Liquid, but what is in store for Twistzz and FaZe?

After two years playing on Complexity Gaming and FaZe Clan, Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski has returned home to Team Liquid.

EliGE spent eight years with Team Liquid from 2015 to 2023, and fans celebrate his reunion with the org.

Team Liquid seeks a return to glory days

Team Liquid provided EliGE with the most successful period of his career, from ESL One Cologne 2019 to IEM Sydney. However, Team Liquid has not been the same since his departure.

Despite their hopeful re-acquisition of Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken, Team Liquid has struggled to reach Tier One success.

Most famously, Team Liquid was humiliatingly defeated by an Academy team during the 2025 RES Showdown 2: BLAST Premier Rising event. VP.Prodigy brought down Twistzz and the rest of the roster.

Although Team Liquid wasn’t able to return to their glory days through their re-signing of Twistzz, they hope that EliGE has the special quality they have been missing.

The EliGE – Twistzz transfer: FaZe Clan also pursue redemption

Team Liquid is not the only team to seek a return to better days. FaZe Clan are also pursuing redemption following a disappointing year of competition.

Bringing the two teams ever closer, their attempts to rediscover success are resting on a transfer between them. EliGE is leaving FaZe Clan for Team Liquid after being benched earlier in 2025. In exchange, FaZe Clan are reclaiming Twistzz from Team Liquid.

The mutual transfer will create a fascinating competitive dynamic between the two teams.

At the very least, FaZe Clan and Team Liquid are now in a race to recovery. Both need their player to seamlessly integrate back into their respective teams, to recover synergy and mark a new era.

The path ahead for EliGE and Twistzz

For Team Liquid, EliGE is back in action immediately. He will be on the team’s roster for the upcoming Birch Cup, which will take place from September 26th to 28th. This tournament will be vital for accumulating VRS points ahead of the upcoming Budapest Major.

Twistzz, however, has a more undetermined future on FaZe. It has not yet been disclosed which player Twistzz will replace on the roster.

In an interview with Esports News UK at BLAST Open Fall London 2025, FaZe Clan’s IGL, Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen, said that “now it’s back to the old FaZe Clan.” The tournament was a significant opportunity for new player Jakub ‘jcobbb’ Pietruszewski to prove himself.

However, FaZe Clan were quickly eliminated in their Quarterfinal match.

Criticism has been thrown both at karrigan and toward the team’s overall dynamic. However, it is not known at the time of publishing who Twistzz will replace. It is certainly unlikely to be Karrigan, given that Twistzz is not expected to be the IGL.

Therefore, there is still much about FaZe and Liquid’s journey ahead to be discovered.
