In a bid to best position for the end of Split 2 and Championship qualification, Apex Legends transactions have accelerated.
The rush to make roster changes for the ALGS (Apex Legends Global Series) was triggered by Team Falcons’ decision to bench Rhys ‘Zer0’ Perry, who is widely considered to be one of the most valuable IGLs in the game.
When did Zer0 leave Team Falcons?
The catalyst for chaos certainly seems to be IGL Zer0’s departure from Team Falcons. When the Falcons roster first formed, they were dubbed an Apex Legends “superteam,” with more trophies between the three roster members than almost every other player combined.
However, the dream of true superteam status has since crumbled.
By the ALGS Midseason Playoffs at the Esports World Cup, the team dynamic appeared disjointed. Team Falcons’ demise was exemplified by Zer0’s crash out, heard in the background of teammate and fellow Apex Legends icon Phillip ‘ImperialHal Dosen’s stream.

Many in the Apex Legends community speculated that the team would make its clearly-needed roster changes in the pre-Split transfer window. However, Team Falcons never made an appearance on ENUK’s ALGS summer 2025 roster tracker.
Instead, their move to bench Zer0 was made after the third week of Split 2 Pro League.

In the aftermath of Zer0’s benching, Esports News UK published a breakdown of Team Falcons’ Apex Legends journey, from signing the “superteam” to present, and explaining in more detail why Zer0 was benched from the roster.
How did Falcons trigger the mid-Split Apex Legends transactions and disrupt the ZZ roster?
Zer0 is not a player to be left LFT (looking for team). With five Regional Split titles across APAC-South and The Americas, three Playoffs trophies, and an ALGS Championship, he is one of the most decorated players to enter the lobby.
His brutally accurate IGL style and tight management of his players ensure any team he leads becomes a favourite on esports betting sites, regardless of the tournament.
Therefore, his departure from Team Falcons immediately triggered a domino effect.
Zer0 reunited with his former teammate, Nicholas ‘Sikezz’ Odom. The two competed on DarkZero’s Apex Legends roster together in 2024.
Famously, the duo gifted the Apex Legends community Zer0’s infamous “SIKEZZ” clip, which has since been reshared in light of their reunion.

The only issue with Zer0 and Sikezz rekindled romance is the fact that Sikezz was already competing with a free agent roster, “ZZ.” As a result, ZZ’s original IGL, Zachary ‘Zachmazer’ Mazer, was immediately dropped.
Adding to ZZ’s demolition, Team Falcons picked up ZZ player Zachary ‘Gild’ Dennis. To fill the gap, ZZ instead picked up Free Agent player Nicholas ‘Fuhhnq’ Wall.
Therefore, the following direct impacts were made by Zer0’s benching:
Team Falcons (before) | Team Falcons (after) | ZZ (before) | ZZ (after | Free Agents (before) | Free Agents (after) |
Zer0 (IGL) | ImperialHal (IGL) | Zachmazer (IGL) | Zer0 (IGL) | Fuhhnq | Zachmazer (IGL) |
Imperial Hal | Gild | Sikezz | Sikezz | ||
Wxtlzy | Wxltzy | Gild | Fuhhnq |
Since these roster moves, Free Agent roster “THUGGETS” has also seemingly disbanded, with former THUGGETS player James ‘KIMCHILEE’ Lee hinting at a new roster in his future, and his former teammate posting that he is officially LFT.
ALGS Transactions elsewhere – shakeups in APAC-South and EMEA
The EMEA and APAC-South have also seen surprise roster moves between Week 3 and Week 5 of the ongoing Pro League Split.
UK pro Tyler ‘Tyler’ Wood has joined “o7”. He will play alongside Casper ‘Gnaske’ Præstensgaard and Francisco ‘k4shera’ Alves instead of Adam ‘AdaM_zZ’ Ferrari, who departed from the roster after an inconsistent start to competition.
Due to Tyler moving to o7, “SHALALA,” has also joined the roster shakeups. They have also removed Aayan ‘Yanzz’ Shah from their lineup. This means that currently, Elwin ‘KSWINNIE’ Echeveria is the only remaining member.
Meanwhile, in the APAC-South region (covering Asia-Pacific South), Gen Ghi ‘StrafingFlame’ Subroto has been removed from Al Qadsiah Esports on EA’s ALGS records. It is unknown if he is transferring to a new team at the time of publishing.
With cross-regional Apex Legends transactions going wild, it is clear that teams are willing to take significant risks for their chance at securing the Championship.
Predicting what more transactions are to come is impossible.
