As an extraordinary surprise, FIVE new Mega Evolutions have been revealed for Pokémon Legends Z-A on Nintendo Switch 2.
The Kalos trio of Greninja, Delphox, and Chesnaught, the starters of X and Y where Mega Evolution began, have been given new Mega forms.
However, these will need to be earned through playing online ranked with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription required.
Additionally, iconic evolution of Pikachu, Raichu, has been given two Mega Evolutions as part of the new new Mega Dimension DLC.
All of this was announced in an hour-long Nintendo Direct which revealed the Super Mario Galaxy movie and more.
Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y revealed in Pokémon Mega Dimension DLC
Raichu X and Raichu Y will be new Pokémon in Legends Z-A added to the game via the paid DLC.
Raichu has been given the same treatment as Charizard who had an X and a Y form Mega Evolution in generation six.
It adds more cadence to the theory of one internet user, who believes most Mega Evolutions are either X or Y shaped.
The DLC will cost ¥3000, so around £15.
Those who purchase it will also be given an interesting set of outfits as well as three Fast, Lure, Level, and Heavy Balls for Pokémon Legends Z-A.
The outfits will become available in-game immediately from launch on October 16th, after the DLC has been purchased.
Then, the additional story content is expected to be released by February 28th, 2026.
Mega Dimension is expected to take players to Lumiose City in an alternate dimension.

Meanwhile, the Kalos starters have all been given unique Mega Evolutions.
Mega Greninja sees the water type hanging upside down from a giant, spinning water shuriken.
Mega Delphox rides in the air on her fiery broom.
And Mega Chesnaught is given a long cape and some sort of giant mace-like weapon.
However, to unlock the stones for these Mega Evolutions can only be earned through ranked battles.
Nintendo has confirmed that players will have to move up the ranks in Pokémon Legends Z-A’s online mode.
Greninjaite for Mega Greninja will be availble as a reward during Season 1, starting October 16th.
Delphoxite will then be available in Season 2, and Chesnaughtite in Season 3.
The length of these ranked seasons and how to exactly earn these rewards has still not been confirmed.
But playing the online mode requires a Nintendo Switch Online Membership which costs £3.49 a month or £17.99 for the year.
However, the other Mega Evolutions announced for Pokémon Legends Z-A will be available through regular gameplay.
