Popular news aggregator and social media platform Reddit has published its Reddit Recap 2023 findings – and sent us its top UK and gaming data for the year.

The recap is designed to be a time capsule of the past year’s ‘most vibrant exchanges, touching moments, and hilarious faux pas’ shared and discussed on Reddit, with the top posts, subreddits and more.

Top gaming posts and subreddits in Reddit Recap 2023

Gaming continues to be a juggernaut category on Reddit across the world. The launch of several blockbuster titles rocketed r/Starfield into Reddit’s top 50 communities, boasting 2,815% year-on-year (YoY) growth.

Not to be overshadowed, r/BaldursGate3 secured its top 50 most-viewed spot, growing to a staggering 4,566% YoY ascent and claiming the #15 most-viewed community on the platform.

By the numbers – Reddit Recap 2023:
● With 38.6 million subscribers, r/gaming is the #4 most-subscribed community on Reddit globally, an increase of 7.7m
r/BaldursGate3 became the #1 most-viewed community in the category with a whopping 1.03bn views and #15 most viewed on Reddit
r/leagueoflegends retained its spot as the #2 most viewed community in the category and #23 on the platform.
● r/diablo4 shattered records with 23,760% YoY growth

These stats should come as no surprise given Baldur’s Gate 3’s release and universal acclaim this year.

Baldur’s Gate 3 narrator Amelia Tyler also narrated the PC Gaming Show and voice actor Neil Newbon won a Golden Joystick for voicing Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, not to mention Baldur’s Gate 3 and Larian Studios picking up a whopping seven wins at the awards ceremony.

It’s been a solid year for Reddit UK in the Reddit Recap 2023. Eurovision didn’t just come to town – the UK owned the spotlight in r/eurovision, taking centre stage with a star-studded lineup of over 20 AMAs, including a call-up from Sam Ryder.

As if scripted for royal drama, the King’s Coronation delivered a double bank holiday weekend and lit up Reddit with
Royal commentary and even a late summer cameo from the King himself. Then the Lionesses roared their way through the Women’s Football World Cup Down Under, taking us on a euphoria-laden ride to a nail-biting final against Spain. And through all the ups and downs of 2023, one love remained constant: the Reddit UK pastime of Greggs worship immortalised in the birth of r/GreggsAppreciation.
