UK esports organisation Team Delirium have signed an investment deal with high-profile nightclub Tape London, which has seen Tape acquire part of the business.
Team Delirium, who field players in Call of Duty Warzone and Fortnite, are now officially co-owned by Tape London, a nightclub which is known for hosting top rappers and music celebs.
The idea is to bridge the gap between gaming and music culture through content creation and marketing opportunities, while giving Delirium some financial investment to also help with its gaming content and esports work.
As well as acquiring a substantial percentage of Delirium, Tape London is investing a further amount to fund team operations.
Delirium founder and CEO, Smurfy, will remain a majority shareholder and company director and will oversee the majority of projects and day-to-day operations.
Smurfy told Esports News UK: “[This will allow us] to essentially continue doing what we do best, with some financial freedom and more infastructure behind us. Tape recognises not only the potential in the gaming and esports industry but also Delirium’s impact and success thus far, especially in the UK, and want to plug it into everything they can. Maybe that’s collaborating with an artist for a livestream or even signing a rapper as brand ambassador in the future.
“We want to expand our horizons and reach new heights. Our goal is to bridge the gap between gaming and music culture in a way the country has yet to see from a gaming team.
“The battle royale and content space has been a great path to success for us a brand and a path we will continue to walk. However, we want to step outside of our comfort zone and expand into an esport title we are passion about in the near future. We will also be exploring new areas of content creation as we additionally combine forces with Tape and their network directly.”
“We want to expand our horizons and reach new heights. Our goal is to bridge the gap between gaming and music culture in a way the country has yet to see from a gaming team. I want Delirium to become the team that everyone wants to be a part of and get behind.”

Smurfy also said that Delirium have people in mind to bring into the brand.
“Also with the launch of Warzone 2 around the corner and the previous Warzone being a great success for Delirium, our eyes are open to scout and scale new talent heading into 2023.”
In terms of Delirium’s longer-term goals, Smurfy added: “To continue to set trends, push our limits and solidify being the coolest, most authentic gaming team from this country that has a worldwide influence. I want Delirium to become the team that everyone wants to be a part of and get behind.
“A personal goal of mine would be to collaborate in some capacity with a titan such as FaZe, 100T or OpTic, as those teams and their owners have been huge inspirations of mine on this journey.”
