Torpedo, the UK eSports organisation known for their strong Hearthstone roster (including UK champ BoarControl), have signed a Gears of War team.
They’ve picked up Sheffield-based Gears of War team Marfach, who are one of the only eSports teams in the UK to live together in a gaming house.
They will take part in their first event as Torpedo at the London Gfinity Arena on December 11th. This event has its own $100,000 prize pool and acts as the first stop of the $1m Gears of War Pro Circuit.
The all-British team is as follows:
- Jack “Trap” Saunders
- Charlie “Brazil” Brazil
- Ryan “Ryke” Kemp
- Connor “Devilfish” Heath
- Brad “Brad” Orton
“We’re really excited to be re-entering console esports with Marfach,” said Torpedo partner Richard Brown on the Torpedo website.
“We’ve always been big fans of GoW and we’re really looking forward to seeing the guys in action at the tour stops this year and next. We really believe the team will rapidly improve as a team living together and we see a bright future.”

Team captain Jack “Trap” Saunders added: “Having players on the team that play and follow the Hearthstone scene. we’ve known about Torpedo for a while, and the ambition they have to be a leading name in eSports.
“We were delighted when they approached us to be their representatives on Gears of War throughout the 2016-17 season, our wavelengths are in sync and we can’t wait to hopefully start a successful gears career with Torpedo!”
Here’s a video tour of the team’s house:
The house has eight bedrooms, two living rooms – and a fridge that contains a single pack of Heinz Mayonnaise.
The team hope to become a top Gears of War force in Europe – and they train upwards of 10 hours per day.
Jack told Dexerto: “Our main goal is to be the best team in our region and one of the most dominant teams on Gears 4.
“Moving in together was, in our opinion, the best possible step to achieving our goals, allowing us to utilise everything at our disposal to market ourselves as the leading team media outlet in Gears 4 – for European Gears at the very least.”
