PC system builder Overclockers UK has entered the League of Legends eSports scene with its first team, sponsored by Cougar.
Team Overclockers UK will be competing in the Challenger Series and various tournaments with the aim to qualify for LCS, the biggest eSport league in the world.
Being heavily involved in eSports, streaming and gaming internally with members of the staff, a professional eSports team was the next natural step.
Overclockers UK Executive Director Steve Ling stated: “We’ve been looking for the perfect opportunity to support the eSports scene and by investing in our own team we can do just that.”
Overclockers UK will work closely with the Team Manager Michael “Michai” Schorr to support the team with its future needs.
Michael had the following to say about the partnership: “Today I’m happy to announce that I will be able to work with the well-known Polish Challenger Squad under the Overclockers UK brand. I started working as a manager for League of Legends teams four years ago and thus had the pleasure to work together with some of the biggest organisations in eSports. This time I’m extremely honoured to introduce you to the first eSports Team under name of Overclockers UK.”
One of the team’s founding members, Kuba “Kubon” Turewicz, added: “Today I’m happy to announce that we found a new home. We feel honoured that Overclockers UK chosen us to be their first eSports Team. We strive to make them proud and we are sure with their support they provide us we will be able to focus completely on the challenger series and thus we are confident to make it into the LCS with our new partner.”
The Team Overclockers UK player line-up is as follows:
- Marek “Libik” Kręgiel (Team Captain)
- Kuba “Kubon” Turewicz
- Wojciech “Tabasko” Kruza
- Rafal “TakeFun” Górniak
- Pawel “Celaver” Koprianiuk
