Bilibili Gaming leapfrog Gen.G and G2 in global power rankings after First Stand

Bilibili Gaming have surged to the top of the global League of Legends power rankings, overtaking heavyweights Gen.G and G2 Esports following their triumph at First Stand 2026.

The shift comes immediately after the Chinese juggernauts claimed their first international trophy in São Paulo, reshuffling the competitive hierarchy ahead of the mid-season break.

Global Power Rankings: The new hierarchy

According to the updated Global Power Rankings via Sheep Esports, BLG’s victory has firmly cemented them as the team to beat.

The rankings update heavily weighs recent international performance, rewarding consistency on the global stage over domestic dominance alone.

The current top standing reflects the final podium results from Brazil, signalling a shift in regional power dynamics:

  • 1. Bilibili Gaming (LPL)
  • 2. G2 Esports (LEC)
  • 3. Gen.G (LCK)

BLG claim historic international title

Bilibili Gaming’s ascent isn’t just on paper; it was earned through a dominant bracket run at the Riot Games Arena.

After dispatching LPL rivals JD Gaming in the semifinals, BLG met G2 Esports in the grand final on March 22.

Led by the monstrous laning of Chen ‘Bin’ Ze-Bin, BLG secured a convincing 3-1 victory, marking the organisation’s first-ever international trophy.

While G2 threatened a comeback in game four, the LPL champions closed the door to take home the $250,000 top prize.

The victory builds on their strong domestic form, proving that their 2025 dominance can finally translate to the world stage.

The tournament itself was a massive viewership success, and First Stand has proven to be a pivotal testing ground for the year’s competitive narrative, giving BLG the momentum they need heading into the rest of the season.

G2 Esports silence the doubters

Perhaps the most discussed shift is G2 Esports claiming the second spot over the LCK champions.

While G2 were fresh off an epic 3-2 victory over Karmine Corp in the LEC, few analysts predicted they would dismantle Gen.G so effectively in the lower bracket final to reach the title match.

Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther and his squad have silenced critics who doubted the West’s ability to compete with Eastern titans in 2026.

Despite falling short in the grand final, their performance justified leapfrogging Gen.G in the standings. The debate now raging among fans is whether G2’s form is a temporary spike or a sustainable return to their 2019 peak levels.

Gen.G slip to third

For Gen.G, the tournament ended in bitter disappointment.

Widely considered the favourites entering São Paulo, the Korean powerhouse failed to reach the grand final after being upset in that shocking lower bracket series against G2.

Kim ‘Canyon’ Geon-bu and his team remain a terrifying prospect for any opponent, but their inability to close out the series against the LEC representatives has cost them their number one ranking.

They now sit third, looking to regroup before the Mid-Season Invitational later this year.

With the rankings shuffled, all eyes now turn to the upcoming LPL and LCK playoffs. BLG have set the standard, but as First Stand showed, the gap at the top is narrower than ever.

Fans will be watching closely to see if this new hierarchy holds up when MSI arrives in May.
