Following protests from content creators over several months of non-payment, Luminosity Gaming has released all of its creators from their contracts with the organisation.
The mass release of creators follows a pattern of questionable management from the brand since their acquisition earlier in 2025.
Luminosity Gaming content creators dropped via email
All content creators previously under contract with Luminosity Gaming have been dropped from the organisation. These content creators were all emailed on November 6th, 2025, and told that they were released with immediate effect.
Rapidly, those affected flocked to X (Twitter) to express their disappointment in both the handling of the situation and their pending payments.
Goodmorning!

Effective immediately i, as well as all creators in @Luminosity, have ALL been let go from the org – via email at 8am.
Grateful for my time with the real Luminosity organization. I honestly am at a loss for words at this point with everything.
Some even implied that their time pre-acquisition was with “the real Luminosity,” and the current organisation is not.
Since the C$900,000 Luminosity Gaming acquisition by Vertiqal was set for September, esports industry members have expressed concern about how the brand would be carried forward. Luminosity has rapidly validated those concerns.

Content creation and a strong roster of streamers have long been central to Luminosity’s identity.
In fact, at the time of the acquisition, Vertiqal Chairman and CEO Jon Dwyer appeared to highlight this influential roster of creators as a core strength in the acquisition.
Didn’t even receive the email that I’m being let go from @Luminosity @Jon_Dwyer since Twitter seems to be the best point of contact, I sent you an email with the details of what I’m owed. 👍

He stated, “This acquisition represents a significant step forward for Vertiqal, allowing us to scale with existing customers full-funnel across the digital advertising ecosystem.”
Additionally, he appeared to reference how Luminosity’s status in content and streaming was beneficial:
“We’re not just adding two powerhouse brands; we’re integrating platforms, audiences, and sales capabilities that will redefine our offering in the market.”
However, he has now removed the core of Luminosity’s platform and audience, leaving mounting unresolved issues and extremely angry creators in his wake.
Spent years trying to get signed to Luminosity. Made it really far in the Rising Stars contest & got signed…

Just to be ignored us for 4+ months & not get paid. & now the FIRST TIME hearing from the new owner is to say we are all fired. What a joke. I’m heart broken.
Content Creators are still left unpaid, and the brand’s identity is rapidly disintegrating
Central to the previous Luminosity creators’ anger is the continuing lack of payment. Many have not even received communication regarding what they are owed, despite having their contract axed without warning.
sounds like a ✨lawsuit✨ if that direct deposit of my entire rising stars winnings don’t hit.

Luminosity’s payment issues arose in the midst of the acquisition struggles. Many were also waiting for payments that were outstanding prior to the acquisition.
These payment issues led to the former and current Luminosity CEO’s engaging in a public spat on X (Twitter).
The former CEO expressed sympathy for the anger of creators. Meanwhile, the new CEO, Jon Dwyer, further tanked his reputation. Responding in a mocking tone, the former CEO argued, “You fell backwards into the CMO role in a dying company. Only exec role you’ll have going forward is in the orgs you create.”
Dwyer ended his message telling the former CEO that Luminosity would “leave your era of mediocrity in the past.”
On November 1st, just five days before the mass creator cull, Dwyer issued a public statement. This statement explained that Luminosity is “working diligently to address the concerns of all the creators.”
Creators who had heard nothing from the CEO since the acquisition were immediately angry that he had time to speak to journalists, but not to his own company.
what i’m gathering from this is that @Jon_Dwyer had time out of his day to speak with you, @zachbussey, but in the roughly 3 months since the transition of the company, the content creators on the team have heard absolutely nothing from him (in addition to no one receiving any…

Dwyer also stated, “My hope is that in the coming weeks the Luminosity community and its creators will be happy with the outcome.”
This outcome was that every content creator lost their contract.

Luminosity’s social media pages are seemingly unmanned, their creators are gone, and a lot of angry, mistreated contractors have been brutally dumped in the organisation’s wake.
It appears as though the light in a once-beloved legacy organisation is going out for good.
